Arielle Martin, who remains hospitalized after sustaining a lacerated liver and other injuries during training this past Monday. USA Cycling released an official press release on Aug. 1, stating that Martin had been withdrawn from Olympic competition, heralding Crain in as her alternate.
“I’m devastated for my teammate, Arielle,” says
Crain.
