Adelaide’s Brian Kirkham snared the national series today in Shepparton despite only having two weeks preparation. The 24 year old defended his series title by winning the fourth round and the final round today. “I wasn’t really confident coming into it,” admitted
Kirkham.
“My two goals this weekend were to win the national series and the championships so - one box ticked.” Despite suffering a broken shoulder blade and hand just over a month ago Kirkham was able to hold the lead in the final race. Kirkham admitted that he was still tentative coming back into his first race today.
“As each race went past I felt more confident and come to the main I was feeling really good,” he admitted.

Luke Madill (Sydney), a broken chain in the quarter finals stopped short any challenge.
“It’s never happened
