The Vans BMX Pro Cup made it to Stuttgart, Germany this past weekend. Paul and I flew in on Friday afternoon to catch the regional qualifier. The talent there was huge already and the 4-weeks old park in Waiblingen, near Stuttgart was treated with rubber marks all day. The highest placed riders could join the Pro Cup qualification round the next day. Madona (BRA) took top honours followed by Zdenda Pesek (CZE) and Jay Dalton (USA). The park in Waiblingen was turned into a small festival area with food trucks, merchandise stands, drinking area, grandstands to watch the contest from, judging tower with DJ and MC’s and a friends and family area with Vans sit sacks and beach chairs. The world’s leading platform for elite BMX park terrain competition, the Vans BMX Pro Cup drew to a close yesterday (June 16) with the Men’s Final at the brand new Waiblingen BMX Park. Another energetic, 5,000 strong crowd made the finals an unforgettable one, it was Australia’s Jason Watts who deservedly took home the top spot. Watts outshone the rest of the field with a winning formula of technical tricks tied in with crowd pleasing big airs, the judges commented on his impressive back to back nose manual combinations. Vans BMX Pro Cup, the world’s leading platform for elite BMX park terrain competition landed in Stuttgart, Germany on June 14 for the first time ever in the series’ history, hosted at the brand new Waiblingen BMX Park. The competition kicked off with the Regional Qualifiers on June 14, followed by the Women’s Pro Cup Finals and Men’s Pro Cup Semi-Finals on June 15.

A packed Regional Qualifiers produced an awe-inspiring spectacle of riding as 72 competitors from 17 different countries battled it out for a place in the Vans BMX Pro Cup Finals. Over 125,000 people packed the banks of the River Lez today for an epic day of action sports.

UCI BMX FREESTYLE PARK WORLD CUP FINAL - WOMEN:
Everything was set for an exciting hour of BMX. The sun was up, the wind was down and the crowd were ready to see the amazing progression of the BMX Women's community. The panel of judges were looking for style, amplitude and tricks, and they were not disappointed. Once again Hannah Roberts was unbeatable. She did not make any mistakes, she completed a perfect run, starting with a whip on the spine, and ending with a flair. Two tricks among others that she is the only woman to master so well. In

X Games Shanghai closed out with a another day filled with Skateboard, BMX and Moto X competitions, along with musical performances and interactive activities including drone and go cart racing in X Fest. The action kicked off with BMX Street, where American Garrett Reynolds reclaimed his spot atop the podium and earned his 10th gold in the discipline and 13th medal overall. Reynolds threw down a toboggan 360 and truckdriver, both over the dragon feature on the course, along with a downside 180 tailwhip to fakie and a hopover smith grind on the rainbow rail. Reynolds edged out German rider Felix Prangenberg (85.00) who took silver, and X Games Minneapolis gold medalist Chad Kerley (84.00) took home the bronze.
