Preliminary round action from the Action Sports World Tour produced by ASA Entertainment ended tonight at the Bank of Kentucky Center on Northern Kentucky University with an electrifying concert by Theory of Deadman on the Maxell Music Stage and anticipation building for the Saturday night final rounds of competition. Twenty men then took to the Big-Air BMX Triple Jump competition course riding for one of the top 12 highest scores of the evening which would advance them to the Finals on Saturday night.

The Burnside Open Kampioenschapppen a.k.a B.O.K went loose this year. This was my sixth B.O.K and I think it was the best ever. With a massive number of riders from all over the country, different styles and a lot of different tricks it was a perfect day.

The qualification format was 3 riders 3 minutes. The best rider of the heat made it to the semi final. Because the qualifications were on first name, it was a really different group of riders that rode the semi-finals than expected, but that made it fun to watch.

In the semi finals all the riders had a one minute run to show what they got. Lot of tricks where done.

After the semi finals it was time for some food, beers and fakkels. Everybody was chilling, but we had to go on, because Mark had to catch a train.

The four time BRAUN cruzer Tour Champ Mark Webb did it again and busted this year IFMA Spine Jam. The 23-year-old English guy seams to be unbeatable at the Braun Miniramp. This year IFMA Spine Jam from 20th to 21st of September proved himself again as the spectator’s magnet at IFMA Cologne 2008. No surprise as the almost the whole European BMX- Elite was attendant. During the competition Mark Web never was in danger not to get the biggest peace of the 4000€ price money. The Suzuki team rider almost showed up with his complete trick repertoire and just landed his first Flair to Fakie, or other tricks as 360 Tailwhips to just name a few of it.

But also the other BMX-Pros could convince with incredible stunts. All ahead Harry Main, with a never seen airtime and huge Flairs. The tradeshow visitors couldn’t believe that it’s a human being showing that performance. Furthermore he was the only guy who banged a 900 to the BRAUN cruZer Spine.

More than 70 riders showed up at the T-Mobile Local Support Street Challenge for an exciting ending of the Local Support contest-series 2008. The crowd in Emmering saw a stunning BMX show and, to top that off, “Destination Anywhere” rocked out with finest ska-punk. Pro and amateur riders from all over Germany and Austria competed in a head to head battle and finally here were following results: Mark König’s and Kevin Liehn’s team “D.t.D.i.K.” won a tie against the team “Wiesnabsturz”, made up of Sergej Geier and Michi Sieren, as a result of more points in the teamscoring.

Therefore D.t.D.i.K. received a prize in the amount of 4.000 € for their local spot, and team “Wiesnabsturz” won a 50-person BBQ at their personal spot. Third place was taken by Sven „Sprosse“ Lehmann and Tino Schnecke with their team “Rettet den Mellowpark”.

Another close fight took place at the amateur final, at which the team “Keule meets Baumelt “ rode an incredible run winning them 1st

Gary Young Wins 2008 Busan TreX Games! First International Olympic Committee Sanctioned BMX Event in Korea. So the day before Interbike in Las Vegas, Gary gets a call from Mat Hoffman about going to this crazy BMX event in Busan, Korea. One long plane trip later and it turns out that Gary's shred capabilities are globally compatible and he topped the podium while most everyone else in the BMX world was waking up with a hangover in Vegas.

Last night was a good one. The Nora Cups were handed out in The Joint in Las Vegas. Once again it was the biggest BMX party of the year. Wherever you looked there were people who simply love BMX. BMX pro riders, industry people, media, old school riders/legends, Cru Jones, and also highlight of the night; Stephen Murray. We're trying to figure out who won the cups here and as far as I can remember it's something like this:

X Games Mexico concluded as energetic fans filled the Palacio de los Deportes to watch the world's best international athletes compete in the BMX Freestyle Final. More than 19,000 riveted fans attended over the weekend. The Americans brought their top form and swept the podium in all of the Final competitions. "The energy from the fans this weekend, after watching some of the world's best action sports athletes, is evidence of Mexico's growing demand for action sports," said Rick Alessandri, senior vice president, ESPN

BMX Freestyle. Sport or Lifestyle? For sure it is a good fit for the Urban Sports Week that kicked off in Eindhoven, NL today. Pim and Klaas van den Bos had put a nice set-up together and riders like Nicky van der Veen, Sven Schuilenberg, Joeri Faasen, Pim, Leroy and Ruud sessioned all day. Other sports present were breakdancing, street soccer, urban golfing and a bit of art such as a BMX photo exposition. Check the website for the program for the rest of the week.
