Joey Chernoff won the BMX park competition this weekend at the Free Flow Tour’s Petaluma, Calif. stop, becoming a winner on the Tour’s 2008 season. Following Sunday’s action at Ramp Rats Skatepark, 21-year-old Chernoff of San Mateo, Calif. took home the BMX park title, while Ronnie Michelini and Kurt Russel took home the second- and third-place honors, respectively.

“The Free Flow Tour contest at Ramp Rats was off the hook!” said park owner, Mike Krnaich, following the competition. “With 55 contestants, the energy was awesome.”

With the win, Chernoff earns an automatic bid into the Free Flow Tour finals that will take place at the AST Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge, September 11-14, 2008.

On August 9th in Jurmala, Dubultu beach (Latvia) the RIDE IT SUMMER JAM 08 competition took place. The competition was the largest in East Europe and the beach had never seen something like this. A new skatepark was built specially for the event. BMX, skateboard, inline and MTB competition took place there. In the see there was kite and wake competition too.

Here is more info about BMX competition. More than 3000 people came to watch this event. The worst thing was that the rain came down 4 time but the jam organisers got park dry out in few minutes and the competition started. This competition was a qualification for Baltic riders for RIDE IT WINTER JAM 09, which will take place in Riga (Latvia, January 31th).

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) teamed up with Woodward Camp to showcase the best in youth action sports talent from August 13-15, 2008 for the fifth annual PlayStation® AM JAM finals. The PlayStation AM JAM tour began on March 14th at the Woodward skate park in Dallas, Texas and continued on to 14 skateboard parks across the country. Throughout the tour, hundreds of talented youth showed off their skills in BMX and skateboarding. 

Spencer Bass took home the BMX park title last weekend at the Free Flow Tour’s Grand Prairie, Texas stop, becoming a winner on the Tour’s 2008 season. Following last Saturday’s action at Alliance Skatepark, Bass, 17, from Euless, Texas, earned top honors in Sunday’s BMX park competition, with Ahmad Shamis (second) and Broc Raiford (third) rounding out the top three on the park course.

Lennie Westfall won the BMX park competition at the Free Flow Tour’s Columbus, Ohio stop, becoming a winner on the Tour’s 2008 season. 

Ricardo Laguna hooked us up with the results from the Lords Of Dirt contest in the South of France. Not only did Patrick Guimez organize the contest but he won the comp as well. Ricardo finished third and master builder Markus Hampl from Germany got second. A Dirt demo followed on Sunday so they're making the trip down 

After an incredible weekend of riding by all, Jeremiah Smith, 21, left no doubt who would be the 2008 King of New York Pro Champion. It was his to lose as Jeremiah slammed the door on the eighteen other pros competing by qualifying first on Saturday. He kept up the intensity during Sunday’s Final with smooth riding and flow, busting out non-stop with tricks like wall-ride to barspin, double whips, wall-ride to tuck no hander, barspin-to-tailwhip, and no-brake tire tap to foot jam on the big sub. Is flatland dying? Is flat dead? I think you have to ask the question “what is flatland for yourself?” in the first place to know what is dead or not.
Flatland can be a lot of things. It can be the artform where riders push the sport by not making it more difficult by going higher or faster but doing more progressive and harder stuff. While streettricks most of the time evolve around doubles, triples and higher basics, the basics in flatland are not even done yet. There is no real structure in the trickculture which is good on the artistic side of flatland because there is so much freedom in flatland but on the other hand bad for the contestside because the comparision is getting harder and harder… well almost impossible. 

We have not done a report on the vert competition at the X-Games yet. Not that we don't know what to write, but we noticed that Freecaster.tv has the whole deal on the internet. With the whole deal we mean highlights of the vert event as well as the whole competition with quality commentary from Jimmy Coleman and Steve Swope. Instead of telling you who did what and how the system worked, just tune into Freecaster.tv for the clips. It makes writing a report useless if you can see everything in motion and have 

New for 2008 was SuperPark. Designed differently to say the least. No space for a big box jump or a spine with proper run-up. It basically was a rad concrete skatepark but built out of wood. I wasn't sure if it would make for good TV. In qualifying it had some riders that did not find their way on the course as it either did not fit their riding style or they did not have enough practice on the course which had a cradle/full pipe section, 2 deep bowls (one with pool coping), tons of hips, some ramps and rollers on the top, a spine and much more. Having this set-up in your backyard would mean you have friends for the rest of your life.

The field was cut into ten riders for the finals. This made a big difference. The riders who made it for the the final program all knew how to handle the SuperPark and were flowing like butter. It was enjoyable watching these guys ride and loads of different lines it made for some good action.
