If there was one rider that flowed the vert ramp in SLC it was Jamie Bestwick. He simply ruled that giant vert ramp from left to right. He went all directions, traveled alley-oop style and had so much flow it was unreal. He almost wouldn't need any variations to win the vert class, just watching him ride you know who's the king. The B.O.K was in one word amazing (this how this article starts every year and it’s true again). With Mischa FSO and Herm on the mic You know there would be a lot of crap talking and joking around. The finals went off with Frank Elshof, Daniel Wedemeijer and Tim Frijters in the top 3. Big 720 transfer tries from Daniel (worst slam), a whip to fuf on a way to ghetto subbox and 720 air tries from Tim, and a backflip transfer from Dranky.

The always stylish Amsterdam boys Virgil Perssad and Maityn with the long last name were rocking the park with big inverts, lookbacks and turndowns.

In spite of perfect autumn sunhsine outside, the Tretlager BMX Hall (Emmering/ Munich) was packed when the Local Support contest started and hyped up the riders for a big show. 19 teams and 57 riders - of which the youngest ones were only 10 years old - including many locals, but also teams from all over Germany and even Austria came to shred the Street Challenge. The final was full of action and finally won by ‚The Stevens’ followed closely by ‚Bodo’s Angels’ from Oldenburg. The winning team of Craig Stevens, Simon Stevens and Volker „Stevens“ Wildner took along the 4000 € T-Mobile support for their BMX spot in Dachau/ Munich.

A local rider, Rafael Adam, received the T-Mobile Wildcard for the best . He convinced the judges (including former BMX pro Benny Korthaus) of his riding style and now starts directly at the Street Session Finals of the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds held on October 13th in Berlin. This gives him the chance to compete with international top riders like Ben Wallace or Alessandro Barbero.

The dirt part of the Dew Tour was pretty sick. Fuzzy and his crew had brought in the premiere dirt and it was good. The course had a drop off for a start where some people did a little variation before hitting the first big set. After that three sets of big hips followed which made for a good course. The crowd during prelims and the finals was big which added to the pressure for the riders. The comp was held at night when the win had slowed down. The generators that provided energy for the extra lights were more poluting than anything I've seen. They even warmed up the Friends and Family stage with black smoke. A big difference between the Dew Tour and European events is that it was not posible to drink alcohol during the contest in the crowd. Some backpack beer runs and Rockstar drink bottles helped out during the dirt finals. The sign said: "Alcohol Violators Will Be Ejected" but if there's a will, there's a way. The State of Utah is kinda strange when it comes to drinking anyway with their maximum of 3.2% alcohol in beers and membership rules for the clubs which have to close at 1am on every night. It was definitely not the favorite state of the Hardcore Drinking Team. 

Jamie Bestwick moved closer to a third straight Dew Cup by winning the BMX vert finals and James Foster claimed his first AST Dew Tour victory in the BMX dirt finals Friday night at the Toyota Challenge. Bestwick, 36, scored 94.00 points to beat the 92.50 of fellow Briton Simon Tabron. Australia's Steven McCann was third with 91.00 points. Bestwick has won at 11 of 14 Dew Tour stops since 2005.

"I have a few good things I've been working on that I plan to showcase in Orlando in the finals," Bestwick said. "There's a lot on the line next month. I'm going to work on the things that I couldn't get done here and try to give it to the fans in Florida."

Foster, 21, of Redlands, Calif., clinched the victory with a highly technical flawless final run to finish with a 93.25 average score. Foster's previous best finish this season was seventh. 

This weekend the Bulls Spine Jam took place at europe's biggest bike-business trade show. National and international BMX rider showed spectacular tricks and BMX action. Saturday, 15. september 2007, IFMA Cologne: Nine o´clock on time the first BMX riders from Germany and Europe are doing warm-up runs for the contest at the Braun Spine Ramp, the world´s biggest mobile ramp. Beneath are top-class Pro and Amateur riders such as Phil Aller, Mark Webb and Chris Mahoney from England but also the twelve-years-old local and BULLS teamrider David Theisen from Cologne.

The Simpel Session Summer Splash took place in August. Not too many well known pros made it over to Estonia for this but after seeing the course this can only change in the future, just like the Simpel Session winter edition has turned into an event that everyone wants to go to. Mario Kalmre sent us the results and a bunch of photos of the summer event which was a way to qualify for the winter edition for riders over there in the Baltic countries.
