NASS Festival Daily highlights 13.07.19 - BMX Wallride Presented by Fireball and BMX BOQER Jam. There’s just one day left of NASS 2019. Yesterday (Saturday 12 July) saw another incredible selection of music acts spread over 15 stages, live and curated street art from some of the best names in the game and the world’s top skate and BMX athletes compete in one of the biggest and most progressive contests in the country. It was another exciting day of action sports, with a busy schedule of competitions and jams over both skate and BMX. The BMX Wallride Presented by Fireball produced an awe-inspiring spectacle, with the riders pulling out all the stops in return for cash, a notable mention goes to Kieran Riley (GBR) for nailing a barrage of difficult tricks including a Flair TailWhip.
NASS Festival 2019 ramped up Friday 12 July providing an unparalleled selection of music, street art, skate and BMX. Having sold out of Weekend Camping and VIP Camping tickets, the Bath & West Showground was buzzing with 30,000 festival goers keen to make the most of NASS’ incredible selection of music acts, spread over 15 stages.
It was an awe-inspiring first day of BMX and Skate competitions, Charlotte Worthington (GBR) took home the BMX Park Women’s title beating off fierce competition from Sasha Pardoe (GBR) and Kayley Ashworth (GBR) who finished second and third respectively. After an exciting qualifier and final of the BMX Street Open, Mike Suttle (GBR) was crowned champion after combining huge airs with technical tricks.
Main Stage headline act Giggs delivered an unforgettable set, pleasing the crowd with his unmistakable voice and energetic stage presence. Supporting on the Main Stage was East London’s hottest new rapper Yxng Bane, living up to his reputation with a unique and genre-spanning set. Hip hop legend Grandmaster Flash turned up the heat with an unbelievable performance, scratching and mixing iconic tracks. Birmingham’s Lady Leshurr entertained the crowd with her infectious humour and ingenious lyrics. The Helm Trails in Helmond-Noord have been around since 2005 and can be considered one of the best dirt spots in The Netherlands. Last night we managed to get together with a couple of riders for a session. Nothing more, nothing less. It was hot, but that didn't hold Ezequiel Helmreich from Argentina back to get through the big lines. Dimitris Araouzos was right there with him showing the lines. We shot some photos of the session and hopefully we'll get to do this again sooner rather than later. It had been a while. For me at least. #DIRT

On the final day of the Urban Sports Week Amsterdam, the Soulcycle BMX street contest was on the program. 35 riders in qualifying were shooting for a top 12 spot so they could ride the finals later on that day on the NineYards street course which had a bit of everything from ledges, rails, quarters, flatbanks, kinked rails, drops and a gap. It was to everyone's imagination to use the course the way they wanted to ride it and it was great to see the different styles. Leon Hoppe brought the tech with railrides to double barspin off to name one. Leon can ride anything so he added a couple of flairs for good measure. Reed Stark is a pleasure to watch because of the speed, energy and originality. That ice-pick to drop in was something I had not seen anyone do and Reed saw the possibility to feeble and smith
