UCI BMX Racing World Cup Papendal Round 4. Sunday 25 June 2023. French domination in Elite Men continues. Shriever confirms form in Elite Women. Sturiska and Bearman rule U23 classes. Hot, hotter, hottest. The 1-month drought had turned the green Papendal grass into a brown-ish scenery. The little rain on Thursday could not turn the grass back to green. Friday it was hot. Saturday it was hotter and during Sunday’s UCI BMX Racing World Cup it was the hottest. Airco’s, fans, tents, umbrella’s, parasols, sunscreen, sunglasses, water, and coolvests were all very popular products, especially on the last day of the race. But you know what? A record number of BMX athletes lined up for Round 3 of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup held at Papendal, Netherlands. The 11th edition sure was a hot one in all aspects. The 27-degree heat had spectators and athletes look for shade but once on top of the 8-meter starting hill it was time to block that out and focus on the first 10-meter-long double jump. The smooth wide-open track at the Olympic training grounds once again was in prime condition giving all participants a fair chance to make it to the first turn in front of the pack.

The new COMMENCAL P038 is our first ever BMX Project bike. It is based around our extensive knowledge in manufacturing aluminium race frames and experience of pushing boundaries in a professional racing environment. We will be fully dedicated as we’re known to be in downhill and enduro World Cup racing.
The project started in 2022 and from the very beginning Sylvain André joined the family. Thanks to his experience and hundreds of hours spent working with our R&D department, we were able to test first prototypes. As the BMX Project grew we also welcomed Laura Smulders at the start of 2023 to further help design and test the bike.
The BMX Project began at the start of 2022 when we signed Sylvain Andre with one goal: to create our version of a race BMX. But we didn't have a frame, just our foundational know-how in designing aluminium bikes for racing. So, we used Meybo’s aluminium frames repainted in our colours so we could learn. As the BMX Project grew, we welcomed Laura Smulders at the start of 2023 to further help design and test our race BMX. From the beginning, our R&D department has been hard at work testing, and it is now time to present the fruits of our labour; the P038. Our first prototype race BMX. Ready to compete at the World Cups.
