When Felt Bikes sends in a new Scotty Cranmer video we're always on our toes. This one is amazing again. It starts off by people putting a bunch of pallets in front of a dumpster to create a ramp to get on top of that thing. What goes down on the other side you have to watch for yourself.
4Down's monthly Giveaway is up on the 4down site, and this time one lucky person from the UK can get their hands on Corey Martinez's UK Ride! It has only been ridden a handful of times, and all the winner needs to do is throw on some wheels and they are good to go! If you know where Corey is originally from, you're half way there.
The AST Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, wraps up its third season, Oct. 18-21, with the PlayStation Pro at Orlando’s Amway Arena. The five-city tour also includes stops in Baltimore, Cleveland, Portland and Salt Lake City. This year, 150 professional action sports athletes across the globe are competing for the Dew Cup, awarded at season’s end to the athlete with the highest number of points in each of the six disciplines: skateboarding (vert and park), BMX (vert, park, and dirt), and freestyle motocross.
The Tour’s current points leaders include Bestwick (BMX Vert), Daniel Dhers (BMX Park), and Ryan Nyquist (BMX Dirt). Among the athletes to watch as the 2007 AST Dew Tour season heads into its critical fifth and final event are:
Alex Baret over at twenty Bikes in France informed us about their new video project "nowhere to ride" with Niclas Cambon around amazing places. The video will be online in 2 weeks (on twentybikes and freecaster) but for the moment you can check the Twenty site to get an idea of what kind of places that Nicolas has found in order to film some exclusive clips. It's simply too easy to say you've got nothing to ride and hopefully this project will open your eyes next time you're going to the grocery store or you're in the bus on the way to school. Seek and you will find.
T-mobile held three events this year. All of them involved BMX in one form or an other. The last event of the year in Berlin involved park and vert. The park section had ten invited riders who were automatically selected for the head to head contest. One rider (Rafael Adam) had pre-qualified through a special contest and three riders (Harry Main, Sven Lehmann and Luke Padgett) qualified on Friday for the main program.
We are very pleased to announce that Carlo Griggs’ IMG Distribution is the new home for Odyssey in the UK. In addition to stocking the full Odyssey line, IMG will also be carrying products from G-Sport, Shook and Jim Cielencki’s Sunday Bikes. Shops in the UK will soon be able to replenish their out-of-stock items, and they'll also be able to buy any of the new or hard-to-find products that we’ve released within the last six months. We are looking forward to working closely with Carlo, and we’re committed to providing the highest level of service to our UK shops and customers.
After the enormous success of the first stop of the Red Bull Backyard Digger in Leende, the Red Bull Diggers and crew traveled all the way up north to Groningen. With the pleasant Sunday afternoon sun beaming down, the most northern trails of Holland were well on their way to become an often-frequented spot!
When approaching the huge indoor iceskating rink Kardinge, a gigantic artificial mountain rises up from behind. This mountain was once supposed to become an artificial ski course, but these plans have been changed drastically. Right now, a four cross mountainbike course is occupying the mountain, with a downhill course right next to it. Recently, they added a dirt course to it. Stichting Bikepark Groningen brought this to the attention of Red Bull, who decided it would be the perfect location to host the second stop of the Red Bull Backyard Digger.
Months ago I started this project to build a wooden park in my town because there’s nothing to ride here. We always have to travel over 100km for the nearest bmx allowed indoor park. Outdoor parks are pretty much the same because the rules for outdoor skateparks are really strict in the Netherlands so they almost have the same miniramp in every town or city.I received 5000 euro’s to buy materials via a project for kids between the ages of 12 till 18 called Whoznext to organise a day for their sport.
Paul's Boutique receives RIDE BMX magazine real fast. The December issue arrived this morning and I was going to do a review on it before the people at RIDE BMX themselves. A quick check there and I saw that they had already done the update on the new issue. Well, makes my life easier as I'll just copy the content from there. Anyway, the new RIDE is out and it's the last one in this format. New size next month.
- Departments - Up Front: This month RIDEBMX has some bizarre stories from Corey Martinez, the DL injurty report, plenty of fine print, and sponsor changes and shake-ups.
Pro Q&A - Jamie Bestwick: Jamie answers questions about frame sponsors, going huge, England, contests, bright colored bikes, and even makes a Chuck Norris joke.
