In the early 80's when BMX freestyle was in its infant stages, a crew of BMX riders & skateboarders converged on Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to ride & skate together. Out of this crew was formed the world famous Curb Dogs. They laid the foundations for later generations of BMX street riders with creativity on & off their bikes. One of the most prominent members of the crew was Dave Vanderspek who could famously do bar height tabletop bunny hops from virtually standing still. Dave sadly passed away in late 1988 but

Boy-o-boy weeks fly by quick. It's Friday already so time to type up all the news from this week, and there was loads. On Saturday we packed the Vito and drove over to the BMX Playground in Veldhoven for the WhoZnext jam. It's got an indoor BMX track with starting gate, a few street obstacles for the kids to play on, a massive foampit and a great spine/quarter/jump box set up. It was pretty packed too. In the far corner some trails are in the works so we will be making a trip back to the BMX Playground in the next few weeks to check that out and give you a full spot check. It was hard to get Philip back into the van, I tell you.
-An indoor spot that will see the end of day on 16 March is the Abflughalle in Grevenbroich, Germany. The indoor trails spot has been a great location for everyone to ride when the weather was shite. Also the resi-section and foam pit helped lots of riders work on tricks that would have hurt more when trying on the frozen dirt. One last contest will take place at the Abflughalle on 15 March. Show your respect.
Creative Control: Nike 6.0 gave their athletes free reign of the Nike design lab and let them go off. The result? The first ever team signature shoe. Features include: -Premium leather upper -Sure-fit tongue straps
Two UK riders with an attitude this week. We met Sam Wise in Estonia and hit it off right away. Maybe it was because he was on the booze like us. As far as FIDS is concerned, he's a legend, and not only in Cologne. Happy B-day to both of them.
On 1 April you make jokes. You have one day to come up with something. Martin Aparijo (old school freestyle rider) and new school rider Mike Spinner share their B-days: on 1 April! Hmmmm......

If you want to promote a contest a good way to do this is to go to the local schools and put on some sort of demo. David Vazquez to a couple of riders to a school with over 2000 girls and they put on a little show to promote the Revolcon contest that was happening that weekend in Guadelajara. Senad Grosic and Tobias Wicke changed back into their riding gear (the wrestiling match was last week, they missed it) and put on a good show. With 2700 spectators that showed up at the contest you can say that the little demo was
This was the first of five REVOLCON contest series, it was packed by 2700 cheerfull spectators, 130 riders and a very sunny weekend of 30ºC /88ºF (Winter time in Mexico, ha!). It was a delight to have Senad Grosic and Tobias Wicke in Guadalajara, first time in Mexico for both guys, it seems that they had a good time, they got a little bit affected by the change of weather, Mexico's winter time is always sunny and nice to deal with.
The contest took place on a re-new skatepark, we had PARK, DIRT, SPINE MINI RAMP AND FLAT, it was a funny jam format. Riders
