Jason Teet is an animal and almost beat Wade Llajar at this one. He won the kirkstone comp... watch out for this guy. Wade flipped the hip from quarter to flat bank, Jason aired the hip from flat bank to flat bank higher and further than anyone, and dirty Dave just all around shredded. There was a special appearance by the Sarge (Sigaty) in the pro class...he's still got it for sure.

The FAT JAM is not to be confused with the Mini FAT JAM that we do earlier in the year to open up the outdoor season. The Mini-FAT JAM is coming up strong too with the 20th edition in 2011 (I believe). But the FAT JAM is the big one, where shit happens, on all fields. See you Saturday in Aarle-Rixtel.

The FAT-JAM started in 1987 and this would have been the 20th year the FAT-JAM took place in Aarle-Rixtel. But we had a break one year so we’ll save the 20th anniversary for 2008. It didn’t mean that nobody showed up. It was almost the most international version of all time with Greg Illingworth there from South Africa, Clint Miller from Australia, McGoo from the USA and plenty of Germans, Belgians and Dutch people.

Those who come over know what they can expect, not much. But there’s no stress, it’s free, everyone can ride when he wants to, there are some tunes and it’s a good time to catch up with other 

Calabazas dirt jumps in Cupertino, California have been around for years. A lawsuit shut the whole place down a while back after someone hurt themselves riding there. Last weekend was the official re-opening ceremony and I walked away with loads of dirt up my nose and a free towel ( new bike rag ) from some new Disney movie. Don't ask me what the marketing connection is there. The folks from Red Bull were in attendance and handing out their product to keep every kid there awake for the next month.

Portland, Ore. – Mike Spinner earned his first Dew Tour win in the BMX Park Saturday at the Vans Invitational. Spinner, 19, landed a 1080 (three revolutions) during his second run to secure the victory with a 94.00 score. Dave Mirra and reigning Dew Cup champion Daniel Dhers attempted to knock Spinner out of the lead, but both fell during difficult tricks midway through their second runs. Mirra finished in second with 93.50 and Dhers was third with a 92.33.

Portland, Ore. – 16-year-old Dennis Enarson topped the BMX Dirt competition, and veteran Jamie Bestwick secured his second BMX Vert victory of the year Friday in the Vans Invitational.  Enarson of La Mesa, Calif. dominated the dirt course from his first run, taking home the win with a score of 93.17. This was the first podium finish for Enarson in BMX Dirt, and also the first time he has advanced to the finals in this discipline. 

“I am just really ecstatic,” Enarson said, who is the youngest in the field. “It feels really cool, I guess. I don’t really feel like I’m the youngest because I hang out with these guys all the time.”

Diogo Canina, 24, of Brazil placed second with 92.92 points. Third place went to Anthony Napolitan of Youngstown, Ohio with a score of 92.00.

Bestwick, 36, of Nottingham, England sealed his victory with a tailwhip flair (180 backflip with a tailwhip in the middle) in his second run, which earned him a 94.67 score.

After going all out in prelims, Morgan Wade couldn't pull it off in the pro dirt finals at the Vans Invitational. He got 12th. Still, this round got a surprising winner with 16 year old super human Dennis Enarson. He can do more than ride street and he proved that in Portland (triple whips, flipwhips, 360-double whips). It's been a long time coming for Diogo Canina (Brasilian arm wrestling king) to finish on the podium (second place!!). Tricks like opposite double tailwhips, 3-doublewhips and 720- over the hip helped him get there.  Anthony Napolitan seems to be on his way back with flip doublewhips, tiregrab to barspin fronties and suicide no-hander frontflips (third). The 2007 August-September issue of Soul BMX Experience is their 50th issue. Congrats to the Soul staff to start with. The cover has a Summer feeling to it. John Garcia is looking back on 50 issues of Soul in a colourful way. There's a BIO on Anthony Abbadie on page 12 and one on Libellule on page 14. Pierre Blondel gets a full page doing a 50/50 down a handrail backward without pegs. He answers some questions too.

Recently we talked about a contest we visited in Abbeville, France. Ralf Maier brought back some memories of a trip to France that took 3 hours longer (each way) than I'd planned. This caused Paul's Army Dodge pick up truck to run out of liquid gas and it turned into a lot of stress. Ralf won some pants in miniramp and traded it with my trophy in the same class. I had plenty of those plastic cups already and thought it was a good trade. Anyway, Abbeville hosted the 10th contest and we weren't there but SOUL was. 

We ain't done with Rebel jam coverage. Still got some stuff to come, just like this little Dirt report. The spot was the same proven trails section at the Mellowpark. Not many changes but it's better than the regular 6 pack in a row at other events. The drop in gets you up to speed for all lines and you have several choices. Most riders chose the big sets but a few of them hit the sets on the right and others transfered from set to set (Doyle - BF - Hans). Each rider had three runs with two of them counting.
