Born in Panama, Edwin De La Rosa moved to Brooklyn, New York with his family when he was 3 years old. He was introduced to BMX through watching it on television and received his first BMX at 13. He was then sponsored at 17 and quickly turned pro in 2003 at the age of 19. Using all the elements of living in an urban environment to his advantage, Edwin built up his skills to eventually ditch the brakes on his bike and gave himself the status of a rider to watch. He is currently living in Brooklyn and competing in competitions all over the world, his biggest highlight being in 2002, taking 10th place in Backyard Jam. This brakeless rider co-founded a Brooklyn based bike shop, Post, in 2008 where many of his signature products can be found.
