landing by a couple of feet or didn't get the right start to a jump - leading to some debilitating and in some cases life-threatening injuries.
On the morning of June 22, 2007, Stephen Murray was one of the best BMX'ers in the world. By the end of the day, he was paralyzed from the shoulders down - suffering a catastrophic fall while competing in BMX Dirt finals at the Baltimore stop of the Dew Tour. Realizing that there was no program in place to help provide assistance to injured athletes, who are often unable to obtain health insurance, Aaron Cooke founded the Athlete Recovery Fund (ARF) - a non-profit organization that offers financial support for rehabilitation and long-term care for those athletes in BMX, FMX and Skateboarding who are left without support following an injury.
In an effort to help spread awareness for the ARF, action sports superstars including, Ryan Sheckler, Andy Bell, Mike Spinner, Carey Hart and retired skateboarding pro turned Sirius/XM radio host Jason Ellis, recently teamed up with Ball Park Franks to create a video painting a picture of the assistance ARF provides to these injured athletes.
To show its continued support for the action sports community and the cause, Ball Park will donate $1 dollar to ARF (up to $100,000) for every person that watches the video at www.SupportARF.com! Go watch it.
