Round two of the Stoppelcross series took place in Boekel. The wet weather during the week made it another tombola how the track would end up. After last week's mud fest, the track in Boekel held up perfect, and the sun came out even. Again plenty of (former) BMX riders made it to the Stoppelcross. We saw
Raymon van der Biezen, Ivo van der Putten, Glenn van de Wetering, Harm van Brussel, Wilco Groenendaal, Stijn Nouwen, Govert Schonewille and plenty more.
Most of the crew entered the MX2 hobby class which was once again split in 3 groups with the top 15 going to the A-final, place 16-30 would go to the B-final and whatever's left went to the B-final as their second race of the day.
Wilco Groenendaal took it easy in the qualifying race and got a third place in the C-final.
Stijn Nouwen made it to the B-final this time grabbing the last transfer spot and met up with
Lippe, Martijn van Bakel and
Eric Mulders for 12 minutes + 1 lap for B-final fame. A-finalists our the crew this time were
Pieter Does, Tom Kuiper and
Rob Karsmakers. Glenn van de Wetering made it to the A-final too.
When the gate dropped it was
Pieter Does who was the fastest on the first straight but he slowed down too early going in the first turn and was passed by 3 people. Pieter once again got the best result out of all (8th).
The Stoppelcross series is a fun one. The mopeds, quads, and hobby riders make for some interesting racing. The crowd got their money's worth (it's free to get in, haha). Crashes, whiskey throttle rides, broken bikes, you get to see it all. Even the 2012 FIM MX2 World C
hampion came out again (
Jeffrey Herlings) for some easy racing.
Not sure if we're going to make it to the last two rounds. If we are, you'll be able to read about it here. Fitting it in the family schedule isn't always easy, but that's okay.
