US based Profile Racing, Inc. today announced the appointment of 1664 BMX Ltd. as their exclusive distributor in Canada. Through the agreement, 1664 will distribute Profile BMX and Mountain Bike components from their Edmonton headquarters and offer their customers the high end USA made bicycle components that Profile Racing manufactures. Jim Alley, Profile Racing’s owner/operator, called the agreement a step forward in strengthening Profile’s Canadian market.

You guys have all heard my rants and listened to me bitch about the new laws. I have been one of the most vocal to fight for the repeal or amendment to the law, and I know all of you have stepped in to help with the petitions and letter writing. Today, the last day for comments on the law, the CPSC gave us a 1 year stay on the fines and third party testing. We still have to meet their limits for lead and phalates, but have 1 year to get our documents in line rather than the few weeks or months we had. And most importantly

A new law was passed in the United States August 14, 2008 that would add testing for lead to thousands of items that had never had to be tested before. This came about as a result of toys being imported in to the U.S. from China earlier in the year with high levels of lead in the paint and product used to manufacture these toys and the Congress and President Bush charged the Consumer Product Safety Commission with protecting children in the U.S. from this danger.
