For the third year in a row the Rebel Jam had a photo art show held by BMX photographers from all over the world. The venue of the art show was just nextdoors of the Mellowpark and served as the party venue the next day. This year some Carhartt-Eastpak art was shown as well as the Seat Beat art show that we will feature here on FATBMX in the near future. Check out the photos from people like Keith Mulligan, Kay Clauberg, Hadrien Picard, David Ulrich, Jeff Z., Bart de Jong, Ricky Adam, Daniel Etter, and more.
The Rebel Jam that's coming up this weekend has another photo art show planned. For many people or even for most BMX is a form of art. As the music art is part of the BMX lifestyle too. BMX photography is more than just taking a picture. Photographers are artists in their domain. But often this art never gets the attention it deserves. In a special and unique atmosphere the Rebel Jam offers some great photographers the opportunity to express themselves as such photo artists along to their BMX life.
Zwanzig Zoll magazine from Berlin always has this Girl section where a hot chick poses in between the Mellow park dirt jumps or in the back office. It's the work of David Ulrich who not only shoots BMX photos, but fashion as well. If you're going to the Rebel jam you might run into some of the models that have posed for his camera.
David has posted some of his pictures on a website and you can view a few samples here on FATBMX:
Failure Bikes owner and Snafu pro, Matt "The Beard" Bischoff, along with Master ramp God and Failure product designer, Nate Wessel, will be on the hit TV show Miami Ink, tomorrow night at 10 pm eastern on TLC. Make sure to tune in as Chris Garver gives "The Beard" the greatest tattoo of all time! A portrait of Hans Langseth! Who is Hans Langseth you ask? Only the dude with the longest beard ever. Be sure not to miss this once in a lifetime television masterpiece.
Want to design a seat for wethepeople? In combination with a graphics/bmx event we're hosting, we are offering up the same template that respected artists are using for the exhibition, for riders everywhere. The Seat Beat exhibition is a collection of just 35 limited wethepeople commisioned seats made for a collective of unique artists. The resultant seats (and the winners from this competition) will be hosted first at the Rebel Jam in Berlin.
Here's the last and final part of the current graffiti art that you can find at De Berenkuil in Eindhoven, NL. In a few months we'll take another trip down there to see what's new. Here are ten more pics.
More spraycan street art on the FATBMX Art 'n Comic page. If you've got some good artsy fartsy stuff that you want people to see, send it in. If you're feeling like doing a FATBMX throw up, that will definitely make it on the site. We won't pay for the fines so run from the cops quick!
On a sunny day I got my bike and rode down to the Berenkuil graffiti spot in Eindhoven. I'd passed the spot a couple of times by car and noticed some new paint on the walls. Time to head down there with the camera and take some shots. This is part one (of three) of street art pieces that are currently covering the walls of this legal graffiti spot.
Joey Cobbs, the one in the same who had a part in the On the Clock video is also a photographer. With 3 years of studying behind him and many ground ledges here is a showcase of some of his bmx related work. As well as bmx Joey likes to shoot bands and has filmed for quite a few of the bike videos out there today.
Joey: "BMX now a days is all about the biggest tricks or how many tailwhips you can squeeze into something and shit like that."
There's a Lettus Bee vinyl figure now. Please come out on Saturday April 21st for the official release of this strange little thing at the Giant Robot store #2. I'll also be showing a bunch of original ink drawings, a couple gicleé prints and more. In fact, you better join me... I'm missing the El Diablo Run to Baja for this show.
