The second stop of the ASA Action Sports World Tour (ASA ASWT) had as many thrills and spills and unexpected twists and turns as a NASCAR race when the first Skateboard Vert and Big Air BMX Triples contests of the season took place tonight at Target Center in Minneapolis. Twenty-two athletes took to the ramps - 10 skateboarders and 12 bikers - to start paving their way toward this year’s Action Sports Championships. 

4.200 heads, 40.000 Dollars price money, 28 international top athletes and three strong live performances–it all worked out perfectly for the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds in Duisburg. And these are the winners: US professional Rob Darden won the BMX Dirt Jump and the 19-year-old qualifier Amir Kabbani caused quite a sensation with his first place in the Mountainbike Slopestyle. Amazing gigs from Dan Dryers from Solingen, The Flatliners from Canada and the long awaited return of punk legends NOFX onto a German stage made for the proper festival atmosphere. Rocked, stoked, moved on: Tickets for the Summer Session featuring the Wakeboard World Cup and an international BMX Miniramp competition are available.

Hey, we got back home for the roadtrip! It was really great, had perfect weather for almost whole week, drove 1800 km, rode street, park, dirt, flatland....and laughed so hard that it still hurts, hehehe. Trip started in Zagreb where the crew got together and we spent the whole first day riding street and warming up for the week. At the sunset we climbed to the top of a building and filmed the cover shot for the DVD, plus intros and interviews with the crew. Next day it was time for Varazdin, a small city on the north of Croatia.

This years Mount Hawke jam ruled! All the riders stepped up their game and crazy mad stunts were thrown all over the park. Too much amazing riding was witnessed but let me fill you in on some of my personal highlights. BEN SUTOR! Every run on the spine was dialed, big moves and tech all thrown down effortlessly. If you don't know the his name yet well then this is all about to change im sure - it must! Props must go out to Ben Sutor for his win in A Group Spine. This is not to say that he wasn't up against it in A Group. 

If you watched the Live broadcast of the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds on FATBMX last weekend you know exactly who did what and who ran away with the biggest check. If you missed it we have the results right here. I'm pretty sure the videos will pop up shortly so you can see who did what tricks. It was a great final with a very close finish. Rob Darden came out on top and received a Champagne shower from Corey Bohan (2nd) and Ryan Guettler (3rd). But we had some parties too. 

Ryan Nyquist came out the winner of the XBox 360 contest here in Duisburg, Germany. Most of the riders entered the ten minute 360 contest where the riders had to do a 360 of some sort over the last jump. Which one of Ryan's 360-s won doesn't really matter. He had 360 lookback to barspins on lockdown as well as 360 rockets to bus. Another one was a one-footed table 360 to barspin. Clean as always. Ryan Guettler's 360 double whip on the last set got second and Markus Hampl decided to unpack the superman seatgrab 360 to grab one of those XBOX 360 machines.

BMX practice just finished at the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds in Duisburg, Germany. Before you tune in to that live feed of the Dirt Session we show you some pictures of the riders who are present. Basically the set up has a huge starting hill which requires some skidding before dropping in otherwise you will overshoot the first jump. Diogo Canina is the only brakeless rider in the group of 14 so keep that in mind when you watch the live feed. It's a 6 pack so three jumps in a row. The last one has a bit of a speed bump in it but other than that it's pretty standard. The riders seem to like the jumps so that's what matters. 720-s, 3-whips, oppostie 360-s are the norm in warm up these days. That sounds promising for the contest. The day is going to be long, with live bands, the MTB comp and the BMX contest as well but should be on schedule as things are going live on MTV in Germany and you can't tell them to wait for 35 minutes because you're late.
