If we are busy in the shop some things are forgotten so planning this years PB Tour was done in a few days. No time to call some sponsors for the tour so I took my wallet and found Euro 500,- to spend in 3 days with 6 people.

Riccardo Moes is our "team manager" and googled some spots in Germany. He even hooked us up with Arnhemse Meisjes, uh I mean Rik Jurjes who joined us to film the whole tour. No we are not going to make any DVD's, let's say Youtube killed the sale of VDO's/DVD's a long time ago and who wants a PB DVD anyway?! 

BMX Street also enjoyed opening night status, qualifying eight men to the finals, which will take place Saturday afternoon, November 1st. A strong and talented field of 16 men resulted in the following Finals’ contestants: Daniel Dhers (Caracas, Venezuela), Dennis Enarson (San Diego, Calif.), Gary Young (San Diego, Calif.), Rob Darden (Greenville, NC), Anthony Napolitan (Youngstown, Ohio), Allan Cooke (Greenville, NC), Kevin Kiraly (Livermore, Calif.), and Morgan Wade (Tyler, Texas). Wade is the defending BMX Street champion, so he’ll be battling to hold on to that title tomorrow afternoon.

The LG Action Sports Championships resumes Saturday with an afternoon session that begins at 1:00 p.m. and features the Skateboarding Vert Prelims and BMX Street Finals, followed by a concert by MxPx. The evening session, which begins at 7:00 p.m., starts with the Women’s Inline Street Finals and continues on to the BMX Vert Finals, then the Inline Street Finals. 

Going on a trip where you don't have everything planned out is fun. Going with the flow is something you've got to live with that way and for a change that's good. At least I like it. Frank picked Barry, Mark and myself up at the airport and drove us to a tent in Pessac where Park practice was going on. 25 at a time turned into 55 riders at the same time on a semi-tight course. Half of them were brakeless too so it was a mess (as usual). Tomorrow is qualifying. Last year there were 100 ams and 50 pros and the comp lasted 8 hours. I hope it will be different tomorrow but I'm afraid it won't be. All this time I wasn't sure where I was going to stay but we ended up booking into the Premier Classe hotel which is far from first class if you ask me. Definitely booze needed to make it through the night here but we're on our way there so things should work out. We'll keep you posted from here.

One week ago, some of the EASTPAK riders, which included Ben Hennon, Mike Miller, Stefan Lantschner, me, Arthur Dietrich and Andy Zeiss ™ went on a little trip to check out a few concrete bowls and some streetspots in Belgium and Germany.

On day one, all the guys flew into Düsseldorf and Cologne, I went to Andy earlier that day so the rest of it, included picking up the dudes at the airport. Just because Hennon's bags didn't arrive, due to a short layover, we had to wait a few more hours to get on the road to Antwerp, Belgium. Not too bad, the first spot, a brand new concrete bowl with a cradle,a 80´s swimming pool, loads of hips and spines, was only two minutes by bike from the hotel. Pretty happy about the real first day started in this beast of pool/bowl. A lot of good stuff went down at that place, even when it was kinda too big if it´s your first time there. Most of the guys rode this hip with this giant cradle as a landing, but also just sessioning a „traditional“ two stage bowl was fun! 

With nearly two thousand fans looking on, Charlie “Monkey” Bowers proved he was the ghost with the most at Red Bull Trick or Treat. Over 30 BMX riders competed for $4,000 worth of prizes on a course consisting of Halloween-themed obstacles, from a 22ft. coffin-shaped box jump, to a tombstone wallride and hand-painted grind boxes complete with cobwebs, bones and bats as decoration. A familiar face from the X Games, Brian Kachinsky set the scene, suggesting it was contest ghosts (those who rarely are seen competing) versus contest goblins (those who destroy the contest scene). Charlie Bowers may have never competed on national TV, but he showed his tricks were prime time, blasting huge airs over the quarter pipe, nailing a vader foot jam and 540 hurricane on the sub box and an icepick grind on the wallride. He humbly described his feelings upon winning against big time BMX pros, “I couldn’t imagine it, I have no idea how it happened. Everyone out here rode amazing.” Guest judge and BMX vert legend Kevin Robinson gave some insight to his win, “Charlie put so much energy into every run he had, he just really stood out.” 

More than 50 skaters, around 20 BMX-ers and a supporting crowd of around 1000 people gathered at the I.O.R. skatepark in Bucharest for the last major contest of the season. Saturday was pretty much a spoiler, since the qualifying sessions were interrupted by autumn rain.
A heavy night and a smooth party later, the same people showed up at the skatepark, hungry for riding sessions and friendly duels between riding buddies. The weather was fine and the sun peeked at the contest from between the clouds.

The BMX-contest was torn apart by Alex Don from Cluj, Alin from Baia Mare and the mighty Royal BMX gang from Sibiu, who leave an unforgettable mark to each contest they attend.

Flatland 

If nothing is happening in your town, make something happen. With that attitude Timo van Lierop decided it was time to put on a miniramp contest at the local ramp three years ago. It has become an annual jam and it looks like it's only growing. With the Mini-FAT-JAM, the Tour Dur Laarbeek and the FAT-JAM happening in Aarle-Rixtel, the little town isn't short of happenings, but the more, the better. It keeps the scene alive and it still is better to session with a group of 20 than the usual crew of three.
