Last year we could not get any words on paper about the RedBull Bikenight. Just did not know what to say about the BMX-MTB mix. This year we're making up for it with posts from qualifying, the partying, the actual contest and now a full on photo gallery. To get the right feeling you actually have to go to events. Pictures, words or videos don't even get the message across. But they help. A few sequences already show what was done, who were there and what the ramps looked like. Not too many people have heard about the RedBull Bike Night in Italy. It basically is a BMX with MTB combo, the only way RedBull Italy could justify an event of this size in their country. So what do you do? Stay home because it feels weird doing an event with mountain bikers, or go anyway and make the best out of it. Last year's event was not a big success. It just did not work so the format was changed with a BMX only qualifying event and a separate MTB only qualifying round. 

The 1st canadian concrete jam of the year was our best and biggest one to date. the largest am class, the largest and heaviest pro class, and the youngest rippers threw down at this north vancouver park on sunday the 22nd. The top 5 for am was probably the hardest to judge due to the sheer amount of entries and talent, but the judges did their jobs well (the judges included pro riders sam lowe and james steele) and narrowed it down to the top 5:

The 13 and under class was amazing with Anthony Messere riding as good as any of the top 5 ams, and at only 12 years old! way to go Anthony!

Too much wind last night so Bike Night turned into Bike Afternoon. At least for qualifying. Finals tonight and here are the results. I believe the top 6 made it in. Spot 7-9 have another chance tonight to make top 8 and the rest is out of the competition. Axel Juergens messed up his wrist last night so he did not ride. Arthur Dietrich rode injured (wrist too) and went for the craziest transfer that did not work out. He's okay though. Enough. Time for pizza and icecream.

June 21nd is a date we all want to forget in Holland, we lost the quarter finals in the Eurocup soccer so we all had a hangover on the 22nd but we had to move on to organise the Tour dur Laarbeek #4. This Mini Miniramp tour started 4 years ago when the city of Laarbeek hooked us up with 4 Miniramps. It's only a 10 miles tour but the kids love it and that's the most important thing.

In the BMX Park event, Dhers, of Venezuela scored 93.33. Australia’s Ryan Guettler was second with 92.50 and Mike Spinner of Miami finished third with 92.33. Daniel Dhers rose from eleventh place to take the win in BMX Park in the Panasonic Open.

“In my first run I started messing up trick after trick, and I was like, ‘That’s it, it’s over,’” Dhers said. But all that changed on his second run. Moments before, Dhers said he decided to take his hands off the handlebars while he performed a flatspin 720, increasing the difficulty. He landed the trick and continued with three double tailwhips, a 720 over the spine and a no-footed can can tailwhip. “I got on the deck, I heard my song coming on, and I was like, ‘No, no, one more battle and we’ll see what’s up.’ I’m seriously so happy to get the win.”

Jamie Bestwick won the BMX Vert event Friday with a flawless first run that placed him out of reach of the competition and Ryan Nyquist came from behind on his final run to win the BMX dirt competition.
