The Toronto BMX Jam is taking place this weekend over in Canada. It's a good thing it's an indoor event as the riding conditions outside in Toronto aren't too great. The ams had their qualifying event yesterday and 32 riders made it to Sunday's finals. Pro qualifying is today (Saturday). Last year's top 5 riders (1 – Garrett Reynolds 2 – Mike Spinner 3 – Drew Bezanson 4 – Craig Mast 5 – Dennis Enarson) all retuned to Toronto so it will be one worth checking out.

If you want to promote a contest a good way to do this is to go to the local schools and put on some sort of demo. David Vazquez to a couple of riders to a school with over 2000 girls and they put on a little show to promote the Revolcon contest that was happening that weekend in Guadelajara. Senad Grosic and Tobias Wicke changed back into their riding gear (the wrestiling match was last week, they missed it) and put on a good show. This was the first of five REVOLCON contest series, it was packed by 2700 cheerfull spectators, 130 riders and a very sunny weekend of 30ºC /88ºF (Winter time in Mexico, ha!). It was a delight to have Senad Grosic and Tobias Wicke in Guadalajara, first time in Mexico for both guys, it seems that they had a good time, they got a little bit affected by the change of weather, Mexico's winter time is always sunny and nice to deal with.

The first round of the Fise Experience tour took place in Gregam over the weekend. We posted that Maxime Charveron won the first stop. Now we have the full results and a few  more photos to show you. If you ride all rounds of the FISE Experience you have a chance of winning that FIAT Panda 4X4 Cross SUV (hey, that's what the license plate says, we didn't make that up).

BMX Amateur:

Carhartt came up with the idea to have one of their team riders invite three to five fellow team riders for a couple of days to show them his local spots. Perico was the first rider to invite some friends to Malaga and he showed them around. Arthur Dietrich, Stefan Lantschner and Paddy Gross were the riders that made it to the Spanish sunshine for Carhartt's VISIT MY TOWN stop number one. Paddy wrote a little story about it and the crisp photos come from Kay Clauberg. Expect a video soon.

Since the idea was born of „Visit my town“ I've been really excited about what's to come. Well, on February 1st Stefan Lantschner, Arthur Dietrich, Kay Clauberg and myself packed our bags to go and visit Perico in beautiful Malaga, Spain. The most of you may know that Malaga is the home of some dudes like Ruben Alcantara or Javier Ortega. So we've been even more excited to hang out with those guys and ride with them.

The third Beat City Jam went down in Münster on February 16th 2008. Unfortunately, not as many riders as in the past two years showed up, but the turnout was still pretty good, with cars from all over Germany parked outside the skatepark. The jam was held at Skater’s Palace indoor park and like always the organizers Jochen, Roland and Alex took care of a Bmx event like it should be. This jam is all about chill riding with friends, but there were also a couple of little „contests“ to keep the visitors satisfied. The first contest was held in Münster's rather wide miniramp and had kids and pros riding the ramp together. The comp was nice to watch and had plenty of bangers as well as smooth riding. The 10 meter wide miniramp has been overhauled since last years jam and a roll in channel and a small subbox were added. Daniel Tünte, competed in the kids’ class, but has moves like a pro. A nice 360 to Fakie across the channel, clean Whips and Barspins to Tailtaps were his ticket to the winner’s lounge.

Michael Beran won the RIDE IT Winterjam in Riga last weekend. The Czech put his box  jumping skills to work and finished ahead of Italian Alessandro Barbero who is still recovering from a shoulder injury and was riding at 80%. That was good enough to show 3-whips on the box (both directions), a windshield wiper and a 3-double whip. England's Harry Main finished up the top three in Riga. 

Man what a good trip we just did to Cuba, that is an amazing country, so much history, a total different point of view. The show got cancelled because of the rain which is natural now. We hope to do it again soon. Red Bull will invite us again in the middle of the year. BMX is a new sport in Cuba and all the riders are very pumped on learning, you should see the bikes they have since it is not allowed to import goods from other countries, there are some crazy laws that I just can't understand. I like to think that if I want to buy a bike part, I just go to the store and buy it. But that is not the way it is Cuba. It seems that the government wants to separate their people from the outside world. We all helped as much as we could, Nathan Penonzek got so much sfuff from Vans and some used parts from his friends from Chile, Redbull Venezuela got some parts and I managed to give away wethepeople parts. Next time we should get donations of bike parts to take to Cuba, I guess with time ahead we can get a bunch of stuff together. I'm sure Redbull can manage to send it there.
