Despite windy conditions throughout the competition, X Games gold regular Jamie Bestwick and fellow British rider Simon Tabron put on a dazzling display in front of 4,700 fans in the BMX Vert final in day one at KIA X Games Asia 2010. Though
Tabron quickly set the bar in the final by solidly landing a 900 in the new jam format,
Bestwick still managed to surpass his fellow countryman by a single point with double-downside-whips, downside-whips-to-x-ups and superman-seat-grab-Indian airs as only Jamie can. The United States’
Austin Coleman rode a solid competition and rounded out the podium taking home the bronze.
“When Simon dropped in for his last run, I was a bit worried,” said
Bestwick.
“I knew that if he pulled off the 900, it would be tight and he did a beautiful 900. But you know, in competitions, there are days when you win by 10 points and some days where it’s just one and that’s the way it goes.”
