Vans teamed up with Schwinn bicycles and tricked out a 1968 Krate Bike to match the Vans sparkle slip-ons that you can see in the photo. The sneakers will be available for purchase on VANS.com , but the only way to get a hold of this extremely low-run bike is to enter a contest on the Complex site. One lucky winner will be drawn randomly.

Byron Friday is one of the riders from the old school. He rode for Kawasaki's BMX team so if that isn't an indication of his roots in BMX we don't know what is. Byron's 30 years of BMX participation got him thinking.

He thought the Joe Kid on a Stingray movie left out a few people who needed mentioning so he made an old school BMX collage with a few thank-you's at the bottom. Check out those pics, they tell a story or two.

-The Alley in Corby has had planning approved for the new roof and Vert/Resi ramp so the building should start very soon which means that the UK/Europe should have its first true Vert Resi up and running. Hopefully before the end of May.

Raphael Chiquet: Yes, I think this event has to take place there.

Raphael Chiquet: For sure, I think you can find riders everywhere in the country. That's amazing.

Do you have an idea why?
Raphael Chiquet: I think the Japanese way of thinking is appropriate for flatland: originality, technicality, underground.

After a qualification round, 14 riders made it to the man-to-man battle final at the Red Bull 14 flatland contest in Real de Catorce, Mexico. The three Red Bull pros that were flown in from Spain, Finland and the USA had no problems with the Mexican competition and ended up on the podium.

The Boneyard Jam is happening on 23 February 2007. It's an evening jam that starts at 7pm and goes on until midnight. It's BMX only for this night and you can ride your brains out for 10 quid all night.  Spectating costs 3 quid if you dare to come.

There are all kind of prizes collected for this night. There's a highest bunny hop contest too so work on that for the next few days. Expect locals Jon Taylor, Robin Fenlon and Owain Clegg to be there. If Alistair Whitton is going to make it to his hometown park we don't know but if he's not, he'll be gutted.

The Shadow Conspiracy have released their spring collection of T-shirts. It's one of three drops with the next one being the Back To School line. We're pretty sure Megadeth would be proud of some of the designs and we saw Alistair Whitton rock the pre-production Dead shirt in Estonia at the bar and it worked well for him. The mesh skatepark 2 year anniversary weekend is going down on Saturday and Sunday February 24th and 25th. The weekend is going to be packed with events to celebrate 2 years of operation.

On Sunday the 25th there will be a BMX jam with the UGP team. UGP team members Adam Baker, Karl Poynter, Tony Malouf, Dan Sieg, Chad DeGroot, Quinn Semling, Tom Haugen, Dave Brumlow, Kip Williamson, Dave Freimuth, and Brian Kachinsky will be at the park at 6pm.

Two people will also recieve 1 week at Woodward camp for summer 2007. They're not sure yet how they're going to pick the winners but they'll figure it out in the next few days.
