Name: Nate Berkheimer Age: 23 Hometown: Las Vegas, NV
You're doing a bit of everything. Do you feel racing helps your park and dirt riding and riding park/dirt benefits your racing? Nate: I guess they kinda work together, racing helps my other riding in times when you only have a short runway or you need more speed, and riding park and dirt makes a bmx track way more simple than they already are.
There are not too many riders who have done both. Who come to mind as overall riders? Nate: Definitely Brian Foster, he was my hero as a younger rider. Robbie Miranda also does both racing and jumping. There aren't very many riders that can be competitive at both, racing takes a lot of strength training and dirt jumping takes a lot of balls. I just try to give it my all at everything I do.
Long gone are the times when the only people who had tattoos were sailors (anchor on the lower arm), guys who loved mom (I - hart - Mom) and people with jail tattoos. It's not only guys either who get some ink these days. Do you have any tats and are they BMX related? That's the question of this month's FATBMX poll:
a) Got one b) Got tattoos but non BMX related c) No thanks

Name: Chris Doyle Age: 25 Hometown: Pittsburgh, PA
What's your sponsor situation like at the moment? Chris Doyle: I ride for DK bicycles, DC shoes, Pro-Tec Helmets, Square One, Bicycle Union, Maxxis tires, and Sun Rims
You've been loyal to your sponsors, can you explain why you're like that? Chris Doyle: Well, it's a two way street. I have a good relationship with all of my sponsors, but as we all know, good relationships take time and patience. All of my sponsors have put a great deal of faith in me over the years and shown alot of loyalty towards me... It's only appropriate that I show them the same kind of support that they've shown me. I'm not one of those pros that's always on the prowl for the bbd (bigger, better, deal). I think it's better to have a relationship with my sponsors that is based on trust... not money.

Vult's first DVD has a lot of concrete in it, lots of sunshine and isn't short of fisheye filming. Add some good music to that and you wish you could be part of it. Vult is a concept of Aaron Nardi, the editor/filmer of the movie. What it is still isn't quite clear to me but he gets things done and that's great. His BMX family is growing too and if you look at the list of riders in 4,5,6, you know you'll be treated with some insane riding.
Vult 456 takes you all over the USA and has a strong portion of transitioned street/park riding in it. It's different from Animal's "All Day" street riding where they ride at night and keep it rough in the NYC cold. 4,5,6 has flow to it and the Californian palm trees in the background of the concrete parks makes you want to pack your bags and go there. There's actually a fair bit of trails riding in the video too but no vert or flatland. You gotta look elsewhere if you're into that.
We received some news from Ron Wilkerson who was on his way to Woodward to ride some vert. Seriously. Here's the 2 HIp news: 1.) The 17th annual 2-HIp Summer tour has been booked. The riders will be three of the following: Jarrod Allen- Santa Cruz Benno Hankowetz- Austria Mauricio Ospina- Colombia and one other flat rider - TBA
Old Skool Meet at U.S. Nationals/Roseville this Weekend Not all Vintage BMX collectors are able to attend the Rockford tradition – so now the West Coast has one of their own. The first (hopefully annual) Vintage Meet, Show & Swap will be held this coming weekend at ABA’s US National in Roseville, CA.. And word from the BMX collectors is that it’s going to be pretty incredible. Legendary collector Tim Cook, owner of one of the most pristine and expensive bike collections, has confirmed his appearance … and Nor Cal racing legends such as Cheri Elliott, John Crews, “Dizz” Hicks and Johnny “UBR” Valdez are set to make an appearance throughout the day. To top it all off, Oak Creek BMX and the ABA are holding the “CLASH OF THE DINOSAURS” Sidehack challenge. This past weekend, EIGHT hacks from the Modesto/Manteca area showed up for practice. With more hacks coming down from the Northwest – it looks like this will be the biggest Sidehack class since the 1982 So Cal hack series
