Check out the winning runs of Tom van den Bogaard (NED), Yurii Illiushchenko (UKR), and Jude Jones (GBR) during the Men's BMX Freestyle Park Finals of the second annual UCI BMX Freestyle Park Contest at the insanely good Area 51 Skatepark in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Holandský park pod názvem 040 byl nedávno kompletně přestaven a vznikla tak nová multifunkční hala Area 51. Dozvídám se o konání C1 závodu pod UCI v této hale. Nenapadá mne nic jiného než vzít kameramana do auta a vyrazit směr Eindhoven.
FVR leaked out highly classified information on their latest jam at Area 51 before Xmas and the Cluut guys decided to get themselves down there to find out the truth for themselves. See the results for yourself.
A random Wednesday evening in Eindhoven turned out to be not that random. The visitors to the Area 51 Skatepark that evening were treated by special guests in the form of Jason Watts (AUS), Pat Casey (USA), Irek Rizaev (RUS), Anthony Jeanjean (FRA), Paul Thoelen (GER), jake Leiva (USA), Marin Rantes (CRO), and Morgan Wade (USA). The impromtu session had something to do with the riders being in The Netherlands for the Red Bull Uncontained event and as you know: "Riders gotta ride!"
Many of the Dutch riding scene were already present doing their usual riding but once the visitors showed up they turned it up a notch as well. Levi Weidmann did decade 720's and 1080's like it was nothing (on the resi which turned out to be the favourite obstacle for the night). Pim Scheers was seen doing no-handed flips and locals Daniel Wedemeijer and Tom van den Bogaard showed how it was done at Area 51. Tom surprised everyone by bringing a new helmet with a big green Monster Energy M on each side. Yes, he's on the Monster Energy team from now on. Without trying he showed why he was picked up. A pleasure for the eye. Romain Devassine and Quentin Morien from France happened to be riding at the park that night and joined in on the session with the boys.
Some hit the foam, most hit the resi, some jumped the big step up and wooden box while others cruised the bowl. With so much talent around, it was hard to decide where to look. So much good riding going on on a midweek day. It was key to stay healthy because the big show will happen this Saturday in
The BMX Support Group visited Eindhoven on a Monday night. People going through a bad time could share their sad stories of being addicted to drugs or alcohol, losing their jobs, hitting rock bottom and simply needing a shoulder to cry on. Actually it wasn't anything like that. Kevin Peraza, Sergio Layos and Courage Adams had made it to town to ride with the locals and to promote Kevin's new BMX shoe. The round circle talking session was more of a live interview with KP himself and those present used the time to ask Peraza anything they wanted. The interest for his new shoe was definitely there and Kevin explained how they've been testing the new sole for a year and a half and how stoked he is to get a signature shoe. The vibe was positive and no sad stories were shared and
For the first time ever BMX and Scooters were allowed to ride Area 51 Skatepark in Eindhoven, here's what went down!
