Fifteen years is a long time in the action sports world, especially when it comes to BMX. Enduring the test of time along with numerous trials and tribulations, the one and only King of New York will be celebrating its 15th year in 2009, going down on Saturday August 8th and Sunday August 9th, this time in Manhattan and the Bronx. The economy didn't spare the King of New York either, leaving it with no sponsorship money, and so the main comp this year has turned into a jam instead. No sponsors. No money. So what? Jeremiah Smith, the reigning King of New York says, "It's all good. I'm still coming out to ride with Jorge and everyone." Daniel Dhers says, "I absolutely hated driving in NYC but I had a blast riding at the King of New York."

The King of New York website (kingofnewyorkbmx.com) is almost completely updated so check it out. August 8 will be flatland and street jams at Tompkins Square Park. Tompkins is on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, at Avenue A and 10th Street.

While many kids were comptemplating how long of a fuse they'd need for their homemade M-80's, the U.S. BMX scene converged in Northern California for the next rounds of the ABA National circuit. And for the fourth year in a row, Oak Creek BMX track played host to what's become an annual Vintage BMX Show & Swap - dubbed by some as "The Rockford of the West." This year, collectors from as far north as Red Bluff - as west as San Fran - as east as Reno, and as close as Citrus Heights came out in force with some pristine pieces of BMX history. Collectors and spectators were able to take a step back in time and re-live the 1970's and 80's BMX era, and with a ballot in hand were asked to vote for their favorite bikes in each of 9 categories. 

The BMX centre will also be open to the community, the council says A national indoor BMX centre could be built alongside the Manchester velodrome, home to Britain's Olympic medal winning cycling team. The £24m development at Sportcity will include a 2,000 seat arena and offices for the headquarters of the British Cycling Federation. As well as being used by the British Olympic BMX team, councillors said it would be a community facility.

Last Tuesday the weather was so awesome so we decided to do a spontaneous BBQ at Bruno´s local park in Siegen. We just went there with the Red Bull Sugga event car, played some tunes, had some Red Bull and set up the grill. Vibe was awesome, 40 people showed up without even knowing, even Stephan Lantschner - Bruno was stoked! I think we will be doing more of this stuff soon - small events, support local scenes.
