H3 Publications has ceased production of Twenty BMX magazine. It came as quite a surprise to Justin and me, Kevin McAvoy, although we were aware of the sufficient risk in launching a project of this magnitude, we were under the impression that financing was in place for 2006. It’s obviously very disappointing to us, as we felt we were on the right road, developing Twenty into the premier magazine encompassing all aspects of BMX riding. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t have launched at a time when BMX magazine sales across the board were stronger; H3 is a startup, and doesn’t possess the deep roster of other titles that larger publishers do, so they couldn’t support Twenty until the market came back around. Regardless, we had a great time putting the magazine together, and we thank everyone who supported us, from H3 for giving us the opportunity, to our advertisers, to the many readers who told us they liked what we were doing. We even thank the handful of haters who, by their very identity, unknowingly confirmed that we were doing the right thing.
– El Cajon, California – BMX World Magazine, the sport’s latest full color magazine to hit newsstands, has announced a two person test team that includes Formula Bicycles’ grommet standout, ABA 11 Expert World Champ, and ABA NAG #1Chad Kerley.
“Chad will handle any tests that we are doing on smaller bikes and components," stated BMX World’s Greg Leasure. “Chad is known for his crazy skills and ultra smooth style, so he’s a perfect fit for testing out equipment and giving a trustworthy opinion.” Kerley, the only little guy on the Formula Factory Team, was stoked to hear the news. “Chad has worked and trained hard the last couple of years and it’s great that things are starting to pay off for him. He’s real excited and honored to be given this opportunity. He’s really taking this seriously,” stated Chad’s dad, Randy Kerley. Kerley stepped it up in 2005, winning a string of big races that culminated in his first NAG #1 title.
BMX World has turned some heads lately, giving the BMX world a full color magazine almost entirely devoted to racing.
Dave Mirra has joined the SNAFU forces and will be helping them towards that ever-elusive goal of taking over the world. Well maybe that's being a bit too ambitious, so let's just say Dave’s on the team and everyone at Snafu is psyched. Here's a list of all the team guys for 2006.
At FATBMX we support those riders who are down for the cause. People who are getting off their asses and make stuff happen. It's a long process sometimes but if you don't act yourself, nobody is going to do it for you. If you believe in it, put some energy in the project and don't give up. John Murray is one of those people. He's a BMaXtivist from Philadelphia and is holding an animal vid premiere and first meeting of BMXactivists where he will introduce the initiative and invite people to help out and join.
If you're living fairly close to Chenga World, it's time to head over there one last time before it closes. The crew has teamed up with Animal to host the Animal All Day DVD premier this Saturday. You know that the video alone is going to be worth the trip. Bring the bike though and rip it up one more time.
