I'm proud to announce that I am officially riding for Vans in 2014. Vans has been in the game for almost 48 years and I'm honored to be a part of such a legendary team. Hoffman Bikes says goodbye to team member Brandon Webster as he embarks on a new era of his life. As he is graduating high school this year, he has chosen another opportunity in his home country of Canada to continue his career in BMX. “There's no way I would be riding at the level I am now without Mat’s help and inspiration. Thank you for everything you have done for me,” Webster said.

We wish him the best and will support his journey through the BMX family along the way. 

2013 was an amazing year as far as events go. Jams, street rides, contests, demos, reunions, races, clinics, something was going on every weekend and sometimes multiple events that you could pick from. BMX is big right now and it's awesome to see that people take the effort to get people together for a good time. Meeting up at events is the best as you get to ride together on a different spot and catch up with other like minded people. You see new tricks and you hear about new spots which works well for motivation.

At FATBMX we've collected over 50 dates of events for 2014 already which you can find on the FATBMX Event Schedule. Some need to be confirmed still, but at least you have an idea of what's coming up next year. Can we top 2013? I think we can.

When things go sour in the USA, it doesn't mean it's done and over in the rest of the world. Diamondback over in the UK have just picked up Kayley Ashworth from Widnes to ride for them. The 22 year old will be representing Diamondback from here on out. Here's a little Q&A we received.

Home park/trail: Now that I’m working at Asylum Skate park, I would call that my home park, after 9 yrs of riding I’ve had a few home parks, Rampworx and Adrenaline Alley to name a few. I am excited for summer down here; give myself a decent attempt of trails, and let’s hope for the best!

Can you remember when riding stopped becoming a hobby 

2013 is almost coming to an end. People are celebrating their last days at work until we enter the new year. Christmas festivities are planned and new year resolutions are made. For some reason 2013 felt like all the other years despite the world crisis taking place. More BMX events took place than pretty much ever before showing that BMX-ers don't need to have big sponsorships to make something happen. A jam

2013 has been a rough ride with way too many people getting injured, companies going out of business and the BMX industry struggling. But at the same time we once again got to travel, met many new friends and had killer times wherever we went. It's time to thank people for making it happen starting with the advertisers of FATBMX. Without them, you would not get your daily dose of BMX info, simple as that. Also we'd like to thank the event promotors for putting on the contests to keep this scene alive. 5050 Skatepark and Friends of Kyle Miller, are doing a fund raiser to help out the Miller family with funeral costs. Come down to 5050 Skatepark on January 4th and see a live BMX and Skate Show. How many snowboard companies are supporting BMX? Only a few. Now Vans isn't really a snowboard company, but they make some great stuff for the slopes. And why not support a company that has been involved with BMX from the very beginning instead of giving it to a snow company.
