Vans presents the Heavy Metal Heroes Spinal Disorder on January 20th at Beenleigh BMX park. There will be Expert & pro classes only with prizes from Vans & Colony for the experts & a massive $3,000 Pro purse! The comp will start at 2pm on Saturday the 20th January 2007.

This is set to be the biggest comp ever at Beenleigh with coverage from Fuel TV & many international riders attending.

Today, 27 November 2006 at 17:40pm Veerle was born, daughter of Bart and Wendy de Jong, sister of Philip. At birth Veerle weighed 3345 grams. All went very well and both the baby girl and the mother are doing fine.

If we're skipping on updates here on FATBMX in the next couple of weeks, you know the reason. 

We have the final prototypes of our first frame from Colony. The Sect which is Kenny Raggett's Signature frame. Kenny is one of the better known & respected riders in Australia. Here is Kenny's frame specs.....

We're not aware of any BMX-er's B-day this week but we did celebrate Philip de Jong's Birthday today. Philip turned three and was ultra stoked on the yellow electric Quad that Uncle Paul and Aunt Carry brought him. You see, he's into this whole (B)MX thing and we don't really know where that comes from......... In the photo Philip is wearing an EBC hat that DJ sent over earlier this week. I asked him to "look tough" and this is the look he had for the photo. Aint scared of that Brian Deegan guy......

The Jam will be run like this: Both Pro and Am classes will be help in true jam style; 2-3 riders in a group judged by all the riders present on the day. There will be a bunny hop and long jump attempt too which should be a lot of fun.

The Park setup will be like this: Beach park in all its graceful glory and throw in 80+ pallets mostly supplied by a Durban shipping company and some 'acquired' from Hillcrest and surrounding areas. A crashed car has also been donated for the day, so bring a balaclava and baseball bat if you’re into that kind of thing.

3 building teams from around the country will be constructing a wide variety of banks, launches, wall rides out of the 80 or so pallets and a pile of scrap wood and metal to match. Building is happening all day Friday to be ready for the contest on Sunday. If you're keen to help out with construction be there Friday early! Each team is paid 500bucks towards a keg for the Saturday nights festivities.

We're working on a new FATBMX competition at the moment and have Carhartt involved. Better stay focused because it's going to be a good one. The FLAT TV contest is now officially over.  The right answer to the question  (The producer of FLATtv is Renato from Holland, he has a 14-month old son. What is his name?) is: Pelle. The following persons can expect issue 8 of FLATtv in the mail:

In related FLAT tv news:
FLATtv used to be availible only on dvd in PAL format so it was very popular only in Europe, leaving American and Japanese flatland riders out of the FLATtv experience. Now this has changed because FLATtv has a distributor for Japan and the US who now produces FLATtv in NTSC format dvds: Flyhi Bmx!

Mat Hoffman's going to be in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on the Oklahoma Centennial Float. 2007 is Oklahoma's (Mat's home state) Centennial and Oklahoma's float will be leading the beginning of the annual Thanksgiving Parade in NYC. Mat was asked to be one of several Oklahoman's who have major accomplishments in athletics to represent the state. Not bad for a BMX'er whom will be among Olympians, NBA, MBL and NFL stars.

Some of the most underrated rippers have found a spot on the Sputnic-BMX team. Johnny Devlin is a rider of the team and he's the Sputnic brand manager at the same time. His duties will include web content, riding, filming and editing all Sputnic videos. The Sputnic product line will grow. Plans are to have more product available mid-2007 and new products to show at the 2007 Interbike show. Now who are those underrated riders you ask?
