The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is delighted to announce that four riders (two women and two men) are candidates for the role of BMX Racing representative on the UCI Athletes' Commission. One female and one male athlete will be elected to represent the discipline on the Commission. Candidates are:
Women
• Stefany Hernández Mendoza (VEN)
• Laura Smulders (NED).
Men
• James Palmer (CAN)
• Federico Villegas (ARG).
All athletes participating in the 2021 UCI BMX World Championships Elite races between 17 and 22 August in Papendal, the Netherlands, will be able to vote for one representative per gender. The vote will be held onsite during official training sessions and at the start of the races. The election results are aimed to be published on the UCI website on 24 August. The members of the Commission will be elected for a term of four years, starting from the 2021 UCI Congress and running until the UCI

Italian Mattia Furlan is the big winner of the 2021 BMX Race Ljubljana - he won both races of the weekend, on both occasions ahead of fellow Italians. Slovenian riders are strongest in younger categories, this is where they’ve shown the most and given hard time to the strong international competition. Title of BMX Race Ljubljana report is more than just a word game, top-3 finishers from the Sunday’s UCI C1 race were in the top three positions - and in the same order - on the Italian national champs earlier in the season. Mattia Furlan was again the strongest, winning two out of three motos in the elite category on the C1 race. Martti Sciortion was fastest in the second moto and took final 2nd place, Michele Tomizioli was third.
