Yes the name of the tour is bigger than the budget and the tourplan wasn't even ready the day we left our shop. On this tour were: Riccardo Moes (team manager), Michael v/d Lee, Dennis Keunen, Bas Brouwer, Pim v/d Bos and Paul de Jong (team coach).
-Day 1: Money spent: Euro 28.11 First day of our short tour was a cheap and easy one, we had a BBQ at Paul's Boutique's shop with some Hamburgers and Frikandellen, filled the cooler with Bavaria beer, filled the Ford Courier and Hyundai Tuscon, made some team pictures and took off with help of our friend TomTom to Trier, Germany.
This weekend the BULLS Spine Jam took place for the first time as part of the IFMA tradeshow in Cologne – outside and with loads of sunshine. Besides the „English delegation“ of Craig Stevens, Mark Webb, Ben Wallace, Phil Aller, Louis Smith and Pete Marselle there were Barry Köhne from the Netherlands as well as Mark König, Björn „Bommel“ Mager, Sergej Geier and Atze Etzold from Germany.
The Pro/AM contest was held on the Braun Spine Ramp and the competing riders gave the public what they wanted to see – incredible runs with massive tricks. Amongst the tricks on view were barspin to fufanu on the subbox (Ben Wallace), backflip tailwhip (Bommel), fufanu on the backrail (Phil Aller), x-up flair (Mark Webb), 360 tiretap to downside whip in (Ben Wallace), toothpick footjam double tailwhip (Mark König) and backflip to manual (Barry Köhne) – to name but a few...
For young talented Motocross riders around the world the Grand Prix series is where it's at. With most GP races being held in Europe, that's probably where your home base will need to be during the season. South African Tyla Rattray made the move a few years ago and is still hunting that MX2 world title. He's been close, but not close enough so he'll give it another shot in 2007, once again riding for the Factory KTM/Red Bull squad. Tyla rides some BMX in his spare time so use that as the connection for his interview on FATBMX.
On 7 October 2006 a new concrete skatepark will be opened in Vidy, Switzerland. During the day a lot of booths will be set up for more info.
While on tour with the PB-team we tried to find the DirtE19 trails with help of our new friend TomTom, it took a bit longer than normal but found it pretty quickly near the Antwerp E19 highway. The trails were super good and so was the weather, lots of riders from Belgium and Hellmond were present and with names like Sig Cools and Greg den Tulder you know there is action too. A wooden starting hill on the right lane provided enough speed for the riders, even younger kids were able to jump the right line but don't think they were pussy jumps!
