The Dutch MX season has started. After 18.000 liter of rain water were pumped off the track and the "Dirtwurx" crew of Mr. Van Vijfeijken himself spent numerous hours working on the track, the three-hour team race was a go. In zero degree (centigrade) weather and some snow/hale showers, the race wasn't for the wussies. A "Le Mans" style start saw Jarno Verhorevoort (Team Universal MX) holeshot the race with a sweet wheelie. Dennis Verbruggen (Team Van Gerwen) followed in hot pursuit and took over after a few laps. The Paul's Boutique team had a bad start with Jan-Willem Koppenens leaving the start grid in last place but soon caught a couple of riders before passing on the arm band to team mate Paul de Jong.

Our BMX boy Spike Jonze made it to Hollywood. When he married Sofia Ford Coppola (Daughter of Francis) we all thought he'd be "set for life". It was good to see a BMX photographer make it to the big time. Spike started off shooting for BMX Action, Freestylin' and Go and continued with work such as Homeboy mag and Dirt. When Spike picked up a video camera he seems to be talented in that field as well. Many skate and music videos followed and also some popular commercials. After that it was up to the movie screens as an actor and movie director, just like Sophia. After 5 years of marriage, the couple have separated. George French has been running the G-Sport parts brand forever. When that new Odyssey Elementary stem came out, it turns out that George designed it. Odyssey and G-Sport have now started working together. What it entails, you can read right here. George filled us in. What is the current situation now that you are working together with Odyssey? Well right now it is pretty hectic because for the last couple of months I have been starting work on the new stuff with Odyssey and at the same time trying to keep up with my usual work load. But the announcement means that I can start to dedicate myself more to the design side now. Did you ever think it would work out this way where you would be doing work for a separate company?

SUFFOCATE FASTER *** Out of Cincinnati these Hardcore musicians played lots of local shows and formed the band in fall of 2001. Gorilla Biscuits gave about everyone inspiration, and so did they do to Suffocate Faster. The band started to write aggressive, fist-clenching music combined with ferocious lyrics that emphasized its own political stance: Straight-edge and pro-American. After playing around Cincinnati they headed West and toured California, Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory) saw them and started to work with them. The band's debut album : "only time will tell" was made in no time and is a lesson in hardcore chemistry: one part NYC street-core, the other part Slayer! We're catching up on DVD's we still need to review. One of them is the latest RoadFools. Issue 13 had some people land in the hospital and that was bad luck. Still most of the crew stayed on two wheels most of the time. This Roadfools was different in a way that a couple of riders chose 3 fellow riders to go on Roadfools. It sure ended up being a trip of BMX characters. If you think Beringer's riding is weird, wait till you see Kevin Nelson and his 23 kilo home made steel bike with wheelcovers. Dennis McCoy made it on the bus thanks to Lou Capparelli's one man team ("I only have one friend, and that's DMC"). If someone can keep you entertained on the road, it's Dennis. I cracked up in the outtakes section where Dennis is bro-ing down with a drunk black man. He sure can be a bastard too.

Come and ride in Brooklyn, the Netherlands! Sytse Winkel and Hoite Polkamp are organizing a flatland jam in an old Albert Heijn facility in Breukelen ("Brooklyn"). The building will be taken down soon that's why there's this rush to get together and ride. Rendez vous: Breukelen (Brooklyn) train station, February 20, at 13 o'clock. From there we'll take ya'll to the spot, a perfectly flat indoor floor, with good beats to go with it. The place is open till 24 o'clock.

We received some pictures fromt he second annual GIRLS TOUR. This year's version was sponsored by FOX clothing company and went all over the East with visits to New York City, New Hampshire, Ohio, all over... It took two weeks and according to Anita Hodgin it was a blast: Woodward was our last stop and we had fun. They catered to us and gave us a place to sleep and ride. Every stop was like this. We went to ECT park in Binghamton, New York and those guys are super rad. Heather broke her foot there but they gave her some cruthches and were real great guys...FBM was in full effect with Crandel and the crew. They showed us around their shop and we received some insight as to how the frames and parts are made. Studio 54 was fun and the owners are super cool. I forgot to bring my gear and they let me use some of theirs. That park is small, but every tranny is perfect. They couldn't have done a better job with the place.
