One year from now, the ‘biggest cycling event ever’ will take place in Glasgow and across Scotland (GBR). A total of 13 UCI World Championships will be combined in the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships which will span 11 days (3-13 August). After last weekend’s hotly-contested 2022 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Nantes, France, the athletes are already turning their sights to next year’s event, which will see BMX Racing’s 2023 UCI World Champions crowned at the Glasgow BMX Centre.

When was your first BMX race and do you remember it well?
Malene Kejlstrup Sørensen: My first race was in 2012. I remember I got second and was pretty satisfied about that.
How did you find BMX?
Malene Kejlstrup Sørensen: My dad raced BMX, so he took me and my brother to the nearest bmx track. We borrowed some bmx bikes and just had fun. Since then I have ridden my BMX bike.
Training, traveling, racing, what is the best part about BMX for you?
Malene Kejlstrup Sørensen: ALL… hard to choose, but racing for me is my motivation to do my trainings. Traveling and meeting new people all around, is also really nice.
What are your thoughts on the new U23 class?
Malene Kejlstrup Sørensen: I must admit I was a bit skeptical at first. Now I think it’s a good idea for

USA BMX Hosts Opening of National Headquarters with the 2021 U.S. Olympic Team for BMX Racing. The long-awaited headquarters located in the historic Greenwood District includes the BMX Hall of Fame, Hardesty National BMX Stadium and the USA BMX Foundation. Officials from USA BMX, the Greenwood Community, the City of Tulsa and the State of Oklahoma hosted the grand opening of the USA BMX Headquarters earlier last week during the Olympic Games. The Olympians, who represented Team USA at the most recent Tokyo Games, also participated by treating attendees to a race demonstration on the Olympic-caliber track.
