EPIC Action Video Cam is pleased to announce their sponsorship of GT Bicycles and their BMX race program for 2010. The GT Bicycles BMX team consists of a.o. BMX Olympian Mike Day. EPIC Action Video Cam's are mini digital video camera's that can quickly mount to any athlete's equipment, including helmets, bicycles, cars/ trucks, motorcycles and more, for point-of-view video and photo capturing. The EPIC comes with a 2GB SD Card and 2 AAA batteries, giving user "out of the package" ability to shoot over 1-hour of nonstop video and sound. EPIC will debut their new 168 degree Wide Angle camera this week at the Interbike show in Las Vegas followed by their HD camera towards the end of 2009.

Olympic gold medalist Maris Strombergs (LAT) displayed his dominance winning round three of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, presented by Swatch in Chula Vista, California on Saturday. Australian Sam Willoughby earned the silver while American Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev.) grabbed the bronze. Strombergs put on a dominant performance on the Beijing Olympic replica track winning each of his heats as well as his quarter and semi final rounds.
Willoughby, winner of round #2 of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in South Africa, used consistency advancing through each round with ease winning two and a 3rd in his heats. In the final Strombergs got a great jump out of his lane one start position, grabbing the all-important holeshot heading into the first turn which seemed to be a drag race with Willoughby coming from lane 5. Once Maris opened up a lead it was nearly impossible for anyone to pass. Willoughby held in second on the fast, big air course to grab the silver ahead of American Connor Fields.

Mykel Larrin won the BMX vert contest Sunday at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, being held in conjunction with the Dew Tour's Toyota Challenge. After taking third in the BMX park finals yesterday, 21-year-old Larrin from Racine, Wis. used a can can to x-up, seatgrab to x-up and a downside tailwhip to score an 89.17 and clinch the win at vert. A last-minute entry into the Gatorade Free Flow Tour BMX vert finals, Larrin emerged from a field of five amateur vert riders for the victory. Greencastle, Ind.-native Nick Summerlot took second place 

Great Britain-native Jamie Bestwick won the BMX vert finals on Sunday at the Dew Tour's Toyota Challenge, marking his third straight win of the 2009 season. Bestwick's flawless run included a flair over the center bank gap, an alley oop tailwhip and a 540 alley oop, giving him a score of 93.38. The win puts Bestwick 54 points ahead of his closest competitor in the Dew Tour rankings, making him the top contender for the Dew Cup, an honor he has received four consecutive years.
