NBL membership is on the rise and this year’s Bring-A-Buddy Program played a significant role in the increase. The new incentive-based prizing structure and more track support combined to make this year’s program the most successful to date with a record 10% increase in both Recruiters and Buddies. In addition to more than $40,000 in prizes, 13 lucky recruiters made the 2,000 point club and they will be recognized in BMX Today Magazine as the year’s top recruiters. Their efforts helped make this year’s program a huge success.

If there is ever going to be an Empire Of Dirt event in Newton Abbott again, the riders have now an extra spot to session. Gravity Engineering just finished up a concrete park next to the Decoy trails and BMX track. The opening was held on 15 November and Brendan sent us some photos of the session. The grippy park has tons of lines so if you're heading west in the UK, check it out.

FlyBikes have two new models of pegs out now. Cromoly for hard street use and Aluminum 7075 for light street and park. Some Fly riders like Sergio even use the cromoly one on the rear and the aluminum on the front. The pegs have an outside machining on the top to reduce weight. This allows Fly to have a very thick section on the bottom to make them more durable and stiff. Being so thick on the bottom also makes them grind faster. The cromoly one has a very thick 2.5mm. section and the aluminum one 3.5mm. section. Here are the weights:

Felt have got a full range of complete bikes available. The Felt Base 18.5 is one of them. It's a stepping stone for those too big for a 16" bike and too little for a bike with 20 inch wheels with a full-sized toptube length. Colors: Pitch Black or Forest Green

Failure art director East was in town for Scribble Jam and stopped by the System Cycle ramps to paint a mural on the wall ride. While he was there Failure shot a web video of him showing an easy way to custom paint your frame. Watch the video below.

The 40D gave up on me and also having no computer is a pain in the ass. These are two important items when you are doing a website and communication is part of your job. Hopefully these things will be fixed by next week and things are back to "normal". It's hard to worry about these situations when you don't have to deal with them yourself but I can tell you that it gets stressful when things don't work the way you want them to work. You take these things for granted, that's for sure. 

Once a year BMX Plus! brings out the Buyer's Guide. If you are looking for a new ride and have not made up your mind yet on what to get, spend 5 bucks on this issue. It's got 250 bikes and frames listed with spec, pricing, contact info etc. It doesn't get much easier to see the bikes side by side and it's a lot quicker than sending $3 to every company for the 2009 product catalog. Next to all this bike info the January 09 issue also has an Interbike report (with fresh new 2009 products), 2009 Mirraco Icon Moto bike test, and also an FBM brakeless bike test. Events that were visited were the AST Dew Tour and the NBL Grands. Chad Kagy gets a bike check, Ricardo Laguna shows you 5 beginner dirtjump tricks and Australia's Cam Pianta receives a little Bio type of thing. Hiro gets the contents spread and Raul Ruiz is one stoked mofo as he gets the cover of Plus! doing a big rail.
