Reached the final at the European Leaque in Holland, a semi final at the 3-Nations Cup and the semi final in Berlin during the UCI World Cup… We’ve had a couple of races the last 3 weeks. The first one was round 7&8 of the Europen Leaque in Klazienaveen, Holland. I never raced that track before, just practice a couple of times. It’s a small track compared to the one we have at Papendal, so it’s a different way of riding your bike…
Coming in to this race 3 weeks ago I caught a cold. Couldn’t really train the 1,5 week before and the medicines made my body feel weak. Because the new Olympic ranking started counting again at Klazienveen it was no option to stay home. I really did the best I can, but after the first lap I felt exhausted because my body was weak. Anyway, making the final on Saturday was a surprise to me. I didn’t do great in the final, because I was so damn tired, but I took some important point for the Olympic ranking. When I woke up on Sunday I didn’t feel too bad until I went outside for a small ride on my bike. My body felt even more exhausted. Racing didn’t go as planned, but there was a reason for that. No final this time.
