USA Cycling has announced the final squad that will contest the UCI BMX World Championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, July 29 - August 1. Joshua Meyers (Treasure Island, Fla./Factory S Squared-Troy Lee Designs) and Denzel Stein (Desoto, Texas/Redline Bicycles) have been added to the American line-up that will contest the elite men's event following injuries suffered by veterans Donny Robinson (Napa, Calif./Hyper-Monster Energy) and Kyle Bennett (Conroe, Texas/Free Agent-Rockstar) during pre-worlds training. "While we're sad Donny and Kyle won't be able to participate in the event, we are excited to be able to offer two top young talents the opportunity to gain experience on the world's highest stage," said USA Cycling's BMX Program Director, Mike King.

One of the hottest riders on the domestic circuit, Meyers earned his discretionary nomination to the elite men's squad following solid performances in this season's UCI BMX Supercross World Cup events and as one of the top U23 riders in the overall

USA Cycling announced today the 11 elite riders it will send to represent the United States at the 2010 UCI BMX World Championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, July 29 – August 1. 2009 world champion Donny Robinson (Napa, Calif./Hyper-Monster Energy) will lead the U.S. squad as he looks to collect his third elite world title on the supercross track in Pietermaritzburg. Two men will represent the U.S. in the elite men’s competition at the BMX World Championships. As the reigning world champ Robinson received an automatic nomination to the funded team while 2008 Olympian and three-time world champion Kyle Bennett (Conroe, Texas/Free Agent-Rockstar) earned the coaches selection in the elite men’s division. The top two Americans in the elite UCI BMX Supercross World Cup standings, juniors Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Free Agent-Rockstar) and Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./Redman-Rockstar) were automatically selected to contest the junior men’s division.

One can state that South Africans have become used to sparkling new sports facilities with the World Cup soccer bringing a host of shiny new stadia which were ready months before the kickoff. But for the organisers of the UCI BMX World Championships next month the building of their unique track has to be a tense last-minute rush.

The track will be the first of its kind and is actually two tracks in one! There is the World Championships track for Elite riders and the slightly easier track for the World Challenge age group racing.

The NBL Music City Nationals, held at Music City BMX in Nashville, Tennessee, July 10-11, drew over 1000 racers and fans to race and watch the action at one of the newest gems on the NBL Elite circuit. The eighth race of the season for the NBL's Elite Series featured more than 400 fast Pros and top amateur riders from across the country. Without a Saturday evening race, Pros from all over the U.S. were racing for double points on Sunday morning. Those extra points could be all the difference at season's end for
