Team Avent / Bombshell made a large presence last week in Phoenix. We had perfect weather for racing. The track was super fast with the first turn was always packed.
Saturday we woke up to another beautiful Phoenix day. The AA Pros followed suit with three in the mains. Donny Robinson was focused all weekend pulling out a third for the day. Jason Richardson rode his F1 forks to a 5th place. Tyler Brown staying consistent with the odd numbers took a 7th home for the day. Cassie Bushnell battled against a stacked Pro girls class, but had to settle for eighth place. In Pro Cruiser Donny Robinson extended his lead for the ABA title with a commanding first place. Randy Stumpfhauser took 3rd on his F1s. Jason Rogers was not far behind with 5th place in Pro Cruiser. Kyomi Waller was on top of things with a 5th place in Vet Pro on his F1's
Redline's Bubba Harris is leading the ABA BMX series. The ABA season is going to see the end at the Grand Nationals in Oklahoma at the end of November. Bubba has a maximum number of wins going into the Grands. All he can do now is keep his competition away from scoring maximum points by grabbing the victory himself. See how he did in Phoenix at the Fall Nationals last weekend. Saturday Pro Results, including the AA pros, Girl Pro, Vet Pro and Pro Cruiser class:
Gilbert, Arizona- October, 2005: The American Bicycle Association, the World’s largest BMX sanctioning body, has created an all new Factory Team program for 2006. In an effort to improve the existing program the ABA met with Factory Team representatives during the Blackjack Nationals as well as communicated extensively with several members of the BMX industry. The results are a revamped program which will create a much more competitive and exciting format that will benefit everyone involved. The following are the key enhancements:
2005 marks the 20th Anniversary of the ABA BMX Hall 'O Fame. Below is the list of the 2005 ABA BMX Hall 'O Fame inductees. The induction ceremony will take place on November 23, 2005 at 2:00pm at ABA's host hotel, Adam's Mark Hotel during the ABA Grands. The induction will be in conjunction with the BMXer Magazine Golden Crank Awards.
This year the ABA are honoring three of the all time greats of our sport. ABA would like to be the first to congratulate the new inductees and thank everyone who voted this year!
The ABA season should be winding down with just 2 races left before the Grand Nationals, but the action is heating up in the AA Pro Class. Bubba Harris has lead the AA Pro title chase all season long and has an incredible season, with the maximum # of wins you can score in the AA Pro class already secured a few months ago. Kyle Bennett, last years NBL #1 Pro season, had a crash early on in the season caused him a major knee injury that needed surgery to repair. Since Kyle's comeback from that injury, a fire has been lit and at each race in the past 3 months, he has placed either 1st or 2nd each day. Kyle, who now sits in 2nd overall in the AA chase, can only move up with 1st place finishes. This weekend turned out huge for him and just moved up 80 points closer to the title. Here is how Kyle and Brandon Meadows finished up this weekend in York, PA.

Tyler Brown travels to Japan
So last week was a busy week for me. I started off my week normal, and then I got a phone call that changed the whole thing! Monday afternoon I get a call from John, the Avent TM. Here is how the conversations goes; “Hey Tyler what are you doing this weekend?â€? “No plans yet, why what’s up?â€? “Well, do you want to go to Japan this weekend?â€? That is where things changed big time! So it was confirmed Tuesday, I flew out Wednesday, made it in time for the Opening Ceremony Thursday, raced Friday and Saturday, and was back on a plan home Sunday! So it was a busy, filled up trip! Here is how my races and some other things went:
There was a good AA Class that showed up in Japan plus mix in some fast locals and it was a good day of racing! In my motos I finished 4th, 3rd, 1st. In the semi I was able to ride strong to finish 2nd and get a spot in the main. Everything worked out for all of the riders and it was a very good main. All of the AA’s and one of the fastest Japan riders lined up on the gate for a great main.
For those who do not follow Motocross, here's a little comparison. Every year we've got the world's for BMX but actually the real racing is taking place in America. In the United States of America everything is "bigger and better" and that's the same with motocross. You've got the GP series where the best racers of the world meet but at the same time there are the SX and outdoor Nationals in the USA where the fast and aggressive racers battle for the big bucks on spectacular tracks. But once every year the Motocross des Nations (MXdN) are held.
