JOPLIN, MO. USA - The newly constructed Autumn Ramp Park will be opening its doors to the public in April 2006.
Autumn Ramp Park is located in a brand new 20,000 square foot building within the Bridge Youth Center Complex next to John Q. Hammons Convention Center off Interstate 44.
The distinctive ramp park was designed and constructed by Nate Wessel and his experienced crew of builders with some assistance from Jud Heald of Untitled Skateboards, and American Ramp Company out of Joplin. Surfaced in Skatelite, Autumn Ramp Park features an assortment of interconnected bowls and ramps ranging is sizes from 4 to 11 feet deep to keep both skaters and bikers happy. The park also features a multi-level, flowing street section with stairs, bowl corners, handrails and ledges, hips, wedges and plenty of gaps and transfers.
When there is a problem and no one else can help, you have two options. 1) You call the A-team or 2) You do it yourself. Andreas Lindqvist and the Capital Athletics Crew didn't have Hannibal's number. Here's what Jimmy Roestlund wrote:
The riding situation during the winter has been a total disaster here for the last few years. There's only been one indoor park here for as long as I can remember - Stockholm Skatepark in a place called Fryshuset. And every time the ramps have been changed, they have changed for the worse for us riders, and actually for the skaters too!
Here's a couple of pics from the new "Monster" skatepark in Sydney, Australia. It opened last week. The street course, which is 1000 sq/m indoors, and miniramp were designed by Mike Daly. Bikes are welcome. It's summer over there now so visit monsterskate.com.au and make some plans.
Sunday the 30th of October 2005 saw the opening jam of one of Europe's biggest(3400sqm)skate plazas! The day started off wet and a little glum, come two O'clock in the afternoon and the weather had dryed out enougth for a good session and all that attended the jam were stoked. Good too see the work of some of Stokes most productive skaters has payed off! Too check out more about the guys behind the Stoked fundraiseres/plaza/stokes skate scene check out www.sketchy skateboarding.co.uk. There is some cool shit on this site including the design of the park and cool videos.
Getting trails in Helmond has been in the works for a long time. Meetings were had at the council and solutions needed to be found. A location was the first problem. After a spot at the fenced off motocross track did not work out, I gave up hope. But not Mike van de Kerkhof. He went on and finally checked out a spot at the Johannes-Vermeerlaan in Helmond-Noord.
Saturday 17th September heralded the official opening of the groundbreaking new GBH Ramps skatepark in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, England. The revolutionary flagship skatepark is the proud owner of the world’s first massive bowled mini ramp, with 6m wide spine and volcano sections fashioned completely out of steel. Christened ‘The Playboy’ this monster structure gives props to the engineering and craftsmanship of the GBH design & installation crew, who have created an immense, seam free curved bowl structure, so smooth it’s obscene. All this has been made possible by the company’s massive investment into new engineering technology and the future of Skate and BMX.
For the last year, Paul Covey has been working at a youth sports center in Joplin, Missouri called "The Bridge." This place is a non-profit organization and is pretty incredible. They've got a ramp park, pro shop, concert venue, rock climbing, ect.
Anyway, a brand new facility was built through many generous donations, and they had Nate Wessel and his crew come into town to construct the ramps.
ENERGY SKATEPARK, Telford, UK.
Whilst of street riding today I got a chance to check out a new park; The ENERGY SKATEPARK is now the midlands premier skate park facility... In fact with the exception of kidderminster this is the only indoor park available to bmxers in the Midlands area making it a life saver considering in less than a month it will probably be dark by five o'clock. Any way on with the crack the park has some good lines and plenty of potential to expand into a much better facility. Some of the ramps include; a 5ft spine, a small volcano, a small jump box, a sloped wall ride (which is the bollox to learn tricks on!), a midi ramp, a large wallride, various qtrs and grind rails!
The parks situated on Tweadle industrial estate, in an area called brookside just outside Telford, UK, bmx sessions are on; Tuesday 7pm-
The Midwales scene report, part 1, Welshpool ramps'
I live in a small town called Welshpool just inside the welshborder. Up until relatively recently there were just a few streetspots andsome trails in the near by hills for the small scene of riders to session, In the last few years all that has changed; It started with the introduction of a new facility into the area a small but adequate skatepark know by some as The library and by the majority just 'the park' .This youth facility came a little late, but realistically with bmx and action sports being at an all time steady high just the right time.
