The official start of Mongoose Jam kicked off today at Woodward East with the Dirt Comp at Big Dirt. At 11am EST, the entire camp gathered to watch the pros and their fellow campers compete for the glory of the win. Each team had at least two riders competing, with the option to have all their riders show off their Dirt skills. Competitors rode the Dirt course four times and each team's top two scores were averaged for a final score. The win went to the team with the highest averaged score. The 25th edition of the FATJAM. When Paul and I first started the FATJAM in 1987, it was a street jam at the old rollerskating rink that had asphalt that was rougher than the roughest sandpaper you can find. We brought a car, pallets, some ramps, a sheet of plywood that was converted into a wallride and an old fridge that somebody needed to get rid of. It's basically what would work today as street riding has picked up over the last few years. But we did that back 25 years ago.
