The Dew Tour Beach Championships returned to Ocean City, Maryland for the third consecutive year and the BMX Park Discipline proved to be a fan favorite as the grand stands filled out in full! The format for the final brought back the top ten riders from the semi-final and broke them into two heats. For the first heat, five riders took both their first and second runs, then, they moved onto the second heat and allowed those five rider to take their first two runs. Following the second heat’s first two runs they shifted to a second round including all ten riders and allowed one more final run. Each rider received three, 45-second runs in total and were judged on overall impression with their best run counting toward their overall score.

Immediately the crowd went crazy for the first heat of riders as the runs clearly stepped up in technicality from the semi-final. Scotty Cranmer came out of the gate with big tricks such as a backflip double tailwhip, a flair up the giant step up and then a 720 down the next step down. Harry Main did his classic flip in

Maryland and for the second year running BMX Flatland took to the main stage to put on a show of precision and flare! The format for the flatland consisted of three rounds with six riders going through the first round to decide the seeding for the remaining rounds – the first round allowed each rider a two and half minute run. For the second round the 4th and 3rd ranked riders will go head-to-head, as will the 5th and 2nd and the 6th and 1st ranked riders with each rider was allowed three, 60-second runs. For the third and final run the winning three riders from round two will compete in another set of three, 60-second runs.

Following the first round for seeding it was Matthais Dandois in the top spot with Yohei “Ucchie” Uchino right behind him in second and Terry Adams rounding off the top three. Fast-forward to the end of the second round and we had the same three in the same positions looking at each other ready to go into the three-way final!

The weather forecast wasn't all to great leading up to the Middenberm jam in The Hague. It was over 30 degrees earlier in the week, but things can change quickly in The Netherlands and 17 degrees and chances of rain were on the program. Still many people showed up on Saturday for a good day at the trails which had been fixed up once again. Everything had been bumped up and the pump track had been extended. Because of the good preparation, it could handle the rain that started coming down around noon. Early birds got a few runs in before that but a little break was necessary for the trails to soak up the wetness. But then it dried up and Desmond Tessemaker and Roy Groenewegen weren't afraid to get dirty. Once riders saw it was possible to clear the whole line, they padded up joined the fun. BMX and MTB rode together and came from as far as Austria to get to the Monster Berm in the middle jam. It was "open practice" for a while until a one hour jam session followed. The judges were strategically placed so points could be collected on top, and at the bottom as well.

Jamie Bestwick continued his BMX Vert Dew Cup streak with his 9th consecutive win. His final run brought the crowd to its feet and dominated the competition with a score of 94.00. He combined massive amplitude with unique tricks, including a downside tailwhip flair, a knack knack seat grab 540 and a front flip flair that drew loud cheers from fans and riders alike. Vince Byron and Steve McCann rounded out the podium in second and third, respectively.
