If anyone had any doubt Jamie Bestwick would be able to continue his six-year streak in the BMX Freestyle Vert competition, they were proven wrong on Saturday night as Bestwick clinched his sixth back-to-back gold. Bestwick stood out among the competition with his huge flairs, alley-oop 540s and perfect turn downs to X-up which helped earn him a run score of 43.00. Despite being twice the age of some of the competitors, Bestwick had a powerful and nearly flawless performance to score 86.00.

The Monster Energy team has taken two podium spots in BMX Park at X Games Los Angeles 2012 today. Scotty Cranmer was the clear top rider throughout as he took the Gold, and Pat Casey earned the Bronze in his first X Games finals appearance. Cranmer dominated from start to finish. In his heat he threw up two really solid runs to take a 78 and qualify first for the finals. Even though the runs in his heat were packed with tons of tricks, Cranmer had more in store for the finals. He came out of the gates hot and nailed a backflip double tailwhip,

Scotty Cranmer’s last X Games BMX Freestyle Park Gold came in 2009 when he dashed Daniel Dhers’ three-peat hopes. On Saturday afternoon, it was déjà-vu as Cranmer picked up his third BMX Freestyle Park gold, ending Daniel Dhers run and living up to his name as the “three-peat killer”. Cranmer’s winning run included a Double Backflip Tailwhip coupled with other big burly moves and technical tricks that distanced himself from the rest of the field.
