DC will officially take over the Standard, Downtown Los Angeles, July 31st – August 3 for The Gold Standard 2008. Conceived by DC, The Gold Standard 2008 is a hosted hotel takeover during the 2008 X Games, developed as a tribute to DC’s X Games athletes over the past 14 years. Here, DC and Monster Energy along with presenting sponsors FUEL TV and Complex Magazine will occupy all 12 floors of the swanky hotel in the heart of LA. Over the course of the 3-day weekend, guests will be treated to the ultimate VIP experience at the hotel, while the biggest action sports event in the world happens just down the street at the STAPLES Center and Home Depot Center. During the day, guests will have exclusive access to lounges that will be filled with entertainment, games, gifting, amenities, and a place to recharge and relax. Each evening The Gold Standard 2008 will host events, where guests can enjoy cocktails, music and hang with DC and Monster Energy professional athletes. 

Red Bull Empire of Dirt is the the world's first BMX dirt slopestyle contest. The course has got "everything you could ever dream of if you're into BMX". If last year's course is anything to go by the event is going to be something serious to behold.

After having been totally washed out last year, riders, organizers and spectators alike have been waiting patiently to get back to the Devon Dirt to take care of some unfinished business.

Once again the Fieldcontrol will take place in Portimão/Portugal powered again by Carhartt.
At 13th and 14th September, some of the best flatland riders in the world will be all together to enjoy flatland in her maxim, with the same excellent conditions as last year, as an OSD wood floor with 20m by 30m covered by a 1000m2 tend, Dj, graffiti and plus others side events. More than 200 of the world's best action sports athletes will be competing at X Games 14 for $1.65 million dollars in prize money. ESPN has increased the prize purse each year of the 14-year event. With the overall purse for X Games 14 increased by six percent from last year, the total prize purse for all X Games events, domestically and internationally, to be held in 2008 now exceeds $3.3 million dollars. This year, X Games events will be held in Los Angeles, Mexico City, Dubai, Aspen, Sao Paulo and Shanghai. Globally, the X Games has awarded a total of more than $18 million in its 14-year history.

"This increased prize purse allows us to give more money to all those competing in the event."

After the overwhelming success of last year's Benefit Jam for Stephen Murray, we'd like to invite everyone back to Alianos trails on Saturday August 30th 2008. As the one year anniversary of Stephen's accident has just passed, the whole BMX community is invited to come along and ride some of the best trails in the UK and help raise some much needed money for Stephen and his family.

From 1st - 3rd of August 2008 the German Open will take place at Berlins’ Mellowpark. It's the official German BMX championship in the categories of street, dirt, miniramp, vert and flatland riding, so everyone is expecting to see the best German pro and amateur athletes (and of course international riders are welcome too)!
