News can't get there soon enough. We live in a fast world. What's new today, is old tomorrow. Well, almost. Anyway, we have collected news from week 11 and packed it into this FAT Friday. You see, not everyone has time to check the FATBMX site twice a day for new updates. If you happen to do so, most likely you'll find something new to read and watch. X Games Brazil makes its debut in Sao Paulo, April 25-27, 2008 at the Sambódromo Do Anhembi. Many of the world's top action sports athletes will be competing in the disciplines of BMX Street, BMX Vert, Skateboard Street, Skateboard Vert, Moto X Best Trick and Moto X Step Up. ESPN has teamed with one of South America's premier sports marketing agencies, Reunion Sports & Marketing, to organize the event

Biker In Black 

Mike Vincent is a son, a friend, and an all around great guy. He played a prominent figure in the sport of BMX, initially as a rider and recently as a judge in all major and endemic competitions. He is a regular figure at all Los Angeles road and track bike gatherings. He is a professional golf caddy. He also somehow manages to donate his time to the local animal shelter. On January 18, while riding his bicycle to work he was struck by a car and sustained major head trauma along with many other bodily injuries. Last week we passed the 50-day mark since the accident, which included three weeks in ICU, four brain surgeries, and an endless emotional rollercoaster for all involved. His initial results to treatment were very promising, yet the past couple of procedures have not yielded the same results. 

Last Tuesday, March 4, Mike underwent Cranioplasty surgery, the procedure to place the bone flap back in his skull. There was severe swelling after the procedure and he had to undergo another emergency brain surgery on Thursday. Initially the doctors planned to drill burr holes into his skull to alleviate swelling yet last minute they decided to reopen his old sutures and insert drains in the hopes that it would relieve the swelling with out another evasive surgery. 

Riders can't remain the little kids that they once were. Bruno Hoffmann started out on a 16 inch bike and showed up at contests and entered them. Then it was time for the 18" wheel set up and over the last couple of years he grew so fast that he has become one of the dudes. He hangs out with the pros, makes finals in the pro street/park classes and he recently celebrated another birthday.

After 26 years of BMX in the legendary „Düsseldorfer Universität“ times are running out. The city started to build bricks in the „pipe“ so it will be impossible to ride it anymore. That's a shame! In the past 26 years a lot of riders from the whole world traveled to Düsseldorf to ride this insane spot. The first guy who use to ride it back in 1982 was Marijus Buntic. He busted the first 5 feet airs out of the ramp and -believe it or not- he is still riding at this spot with a bunch of „Uni-bmx“ oldschool locals like me. 

We do receive video links on a regular basis. Some of them are okay, some of them are bad, and this one is GREAT! Ondra Slez from the Czech Republic mailed it over and he's damn impressive on that little BMX bike. The last trick is a good one too. Might have been on accident but it is pulled. Check check.
