2020 UCI BMX Freestyle Park and Flatland World Cup: postponement of stop one in Hiroshima, Japan
Following the decision of the Hiroshima Prefecture in relation to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) must announce that the opening round of the UCI BMX Freestyle and Flatland World Cup, part of the 2020 FISE World Series, in Hiroshima, Japan – initially scheduled from 3 to 5 April – has to be postponed. The UCI fully supports the decision taken by the Japanese authorities and reiterates that its primary concern across all its disciplines and events remains the safety of athletes, teams and all parties involved.
The new date of the competitions will be announced later in consultation with the Japanese authorities and the series organiser Hurricane.
The season-opening is fast approaching and it's almost time to kick off the tour in style. For the third year in a row we start the series in Hiroshima, with a massive line up of sports. This will be the perfect occasion for riders to get a Japan experience ahead of the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer. Can't wait for all the action? After a rainy day on Friday the UCI BMX Park World Cup continued on Saturday. The Elite Men class turned into a semi-final with 78 riders. The cut to 12 riders for Sunday's final was touch but these are the results. Make sure to tune in on Sunday to watch the finals live.
