UCI BMX SX World Cup Saint Quention-en-Yvelines, France by Niek Kimmann.
The 2018 UCI BMX SX World Cup season kicked off on March 30- April 1st, just outside of Paris France. Tioga Supported riders Laura Smulders, Niek Kimmann, and Joris Daudet all started the season off with World Cup wins. Watch as we recap the UCI BMX season opener.
The good part about having two full World Cups in one weekend is that you get to ride twice in one weekend. The bad part is the number of laps you need to ride at full speed. Those making it to the final on Saturday surely felt their heavy legs along the way to the final on Sunday. Five out of six athletes made two podiums at the opening weekend of the UCI BMX SX World Cup. In. Elite Men the order was different with Joris Daudet (FRA) taking the win with Romain Mahieu (FRA) close behind. This made the crowd go nuts in the first World Cup back in France since Fréjus in 2010. Niek Kimmann had to settle for third but a win and a 3rd isn't a bad score. The overall standings in Elite Men couldn't be much closer with Daudet and Kimmann tied in points with 265 and Mahieu close behind with 260 World Cup pts.

After a long off-season world's fastest BMX racers united at the covered BMX SX track at the French National training centre. It was the first big worldwide test to see how winter training had worked out and with a record number of entries, the athletes had plenty of racing to do before they'd make it to the final. Qualifying racing is much more interesting than the time trials that were used a few years ago. From the start of the racing it gets interesting. In Round 1 the top 4 riders transfer to the next round. The last chance that follows takes the best two riders to the next round. In the Men category that was a 1/32nd final in France due to the number of entries. To make it to the
