We are a bunch of Bmx Riders from Oeiras/Lisboa-Portugal. We are trying to save one of our favourite, and oldest (+/- 15 years) places to ride in Portugal. The Pool is nearby some buildings and at night a bunch of drunk folks make a lot of noise and smash some bottles on the ground. The people who live by complained to the City Hall and they tell some lies...saying that no one rides the place anymore... and now they pretend to demolish the Pool and replace it with a garden... So we started a movement to show to them that the pool isn't the problem and the garden is not the sollution... but some better night lights, a timetable and a fence, maybe help to stop the "late night noises".

Normally it's fans asking an autograph of vert rider Tom Stober but while at a party in Brasil, the Woodward regular got to meet his lifetime idol Bono from the band U2. The drinks he had already in him, gave Tom the courage to walk up to Bono to have his arm signed and his picture taken with the Irish pop star.  In the next bar Tom wanted everyone to know that he had met Bono and showed his autograph to everyone. But was it really Bono?

Eastreet are organizing their first event which will take place in June, the 24th to be exact. The location will be at Basse Ham (57), near Thionville, near Luxembourg. The spirit is basic: Riding, riding and festivities or as their flyer says:

Beer, Barbeque and Riding.

Austin Coleman from Los Angeles graduated a little over a week ago and can finally spend some time on his bike without worrying about school. Needless to say, he's pretty stoked on that. It will be the first time Austin hasn't been in school in almost 18 years! Coleman went to the University of Southern California (USC) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Policy, Planning, Management, and Developement (emphasis Urban Planning) and a Minor in Business Administration. What does that mean? Austin: "I could technically become a scientist, and/or real estate developer but I'm pretty psyched right now on having the time I've always wanted to ride bikes."

Braun cruZer Tour at the Cologne Youthpark. Again, in 2006 the Braun Spine Ramp will be at Pro-Amateur Contests as well as at Music Festivals around Europe and will be ready to be rocked by top bmx riders... I ended up doing a big elbow drop straight to flat, shattering the most ironically named bone in your body (funny bone?).

Chad Kagy sent us a movie clip that is fucking incredible. It was filmed in Mexico City on one of those insanely high roll-in, jump box, quarterpipe set ups that DC and their athletes are known for. We've known that Chad has got balls and skills and this video proves that he is ready for anything. Mucho respecto amigo.

The Doc says he’s ready to go. The fractured shoulder, suffered at the NBL Nellis race is healed, and Redline’s Bubba Harris will return to the starting gate this weekend. Without question, he is looking forward to getting back on a track and bumping his points back to the top of the standings. Only one question remained; whether to make the return in Prunedale, CA or Atlanta, GA – as this weekend is one of only two “overlap” weekends in 2006. Tough choice. But being that no Pro in the history of BMX has ever taken three consecutive No.1 Pro titles in the ABA, Redline has made the call for Bubba to attend the Dixieland Natls in Marrietta, Georgia – at Margie Hatfield’s Cobb County BMX track.

Over the weekend FATBMX joined the Eastpak/Carhartt tour on their way to various riding spots in Belgium and The Netherlands. The riders on board were Benny Paulsen, Bruno Hoffman, Hannu and Sig Cools, Stefan Lantschner, Ben Manuel and Markus Braumann. Expect a report on the touring this week on FATBMX in multiple episodes.

The town of Laarbeek (that includes Aarle-Rixtel, Mariahout, Beek & Donk and Lieshout) is having their second annual "Tour of Laarbeek" on 28 May. If you're wondering what it's about, let me explain. All four villages have their own mini-ramp. One is a hipped version (In Lieshout, that's where they brew the Bavaria beer), one has a spine (B&D, home of the 1982 Open European BMX championships), one mini ramp has an extension (Aarle-Rixtel - of the FAT-JAM fame) and the ramp in Mariahout is simply high and wide. All those ramps are used fairly well and on this day, all 4 ramps will be ridden. Anybody can enter on anything and there is some sort of contest format that will determine a winner at the end of the day. If you feel like riding 4 different ramps in one afternoon, make sure to show up in Mariahout first (11:30am). The day will end with a session in Aarle-Rixtel (starts at 17:30pm). FATBMX will be there.
