In March 2003 Martti Kuoppa and Jorge Gomez met up in Malaga (Spain) to practice flatland together. While taking a lunch break at the beach the very first idea joining together as a company came up. And the most obvious name for the company was "Kuoppa Gomez bikes", KGB. Within 2 minutes both, Kuoppa and Gomez made the decision about founding KGB and to leave their current bike sponsors. Now, two years later, we checked in with Viki and Martti on the developments of the KGB brand. Some time has passed since you started KGB, what products have you been able to put on the market and sell to the KGB fans?

To make a perfect BMX weekend happen you basically only need a few things: Spirit, passion, dedication and heart. Exactly this is what the Rebel Bmx weekend should reflect in the first place. But sometimes you need to be a bit of a rebel… The date of the street/dirt/mini contest is 1-3 July 2005. The place is the Mellowpark in Berlin, Germany. The Dew Action Sports Tour announced the kickoff of the Free Flow Tour, the official amateur series of the Dew Action Sports Tour. A grassroots amateur BMX park and skateboard contest series, the Free Flow Tour will bring jam-style contests to 15 communities across the country. The Free Flow Tour begins May 15 at the Vans Skatepark in Moorestown, NJ. The Free Flow Tour will include BMX competitions at seven sites. The top BMX finishers at each stop will be flown to the Dew Action Sports

This Van Doren Rubber company ad shows the real Made in USA Vans style #38 hi-tops. You could recognize the new shoes by the smell alone. Natural tacky rubber waffle sole, available in many colours and later also with a side-print. In the VANS advertisement from 1980 it is a young Greg Hill endorsing the product. It states: "Van's (as in Van Doren's) #38 style is the newest in the finest collection of super BMX footwear." Seeing that the shoe is still available today, you cannot doubt its popularity. Grab On grips had some unique advertisements going on in the early eighties. The BMX magazine ads showed a comic style ad about the Grab On kid. Going by the drawing style we believe it was Bob Haro who did these comics. Enjoy the flashback.

Here's a copy of a Blazer ad from an early issue of BMX Action. It shows that back in the day they used real cowboys to test BMX bikes. The little kid in the middle is all padded up because if he doesn't do his job, the whip comes out. Whap!! It's a good thing that Terrible One (located in Austin, Texas) have not taken up the traditional way of testing bikes. Poor Ruben in the range like a torro and Taj and Joe handling the whip...... whap!!!

Intense BMX is proud to announce their first factory AA Pro rider sponsorship with Jamie Staff. Jamie Staff, a former UCI World Champion, NBL #1 Pro, and current UCI World Champion on the Track, will be returning to the BMX circuit in 2005 with his first appearance this weekend at the ABA US Nationals in San Bernardino, CA. Jamie will be riding aboard an Intense XXL Sabot frame.
