After completing two years under a 9 issue per year cycle, Dig BMX Magazine has recently announced plans to move into a bi-monthly production schedule for 2006. Some might say this is a bad thing, but we see it as a very good thing for all parties involved. Wanna know why? Keep reading. For the readers, this means stronger, exclusive writing and photography, detailed and in-depth coverage of riders and original artwork that isn't restricted by release dates and what everyone else is doing. The shift also affords us improved production for each issue, with full-color presentation, added pages of content, new departments and more. In the simplest terms, we spend more time perfecting each issue for our readers. That's good, right?

Dirt Jam Day 1

Converging from around the country and the world, the assembled 20inch crew got their first taste of Dirt Jam and its epic scale on Friday morning. Set in the middle of the Gold Coasts most famous strip of golden sand at Surfers, the Dirt Jam was nothing short of incredible.

Over 60 tonnes of dirt sculpted over the top of 300 wooden palettes made up the two huge 3 metre high supercross-esque kickers, while a 7 metre high roll in towered ominously above it all. The massive height of the tower set to generate more than enough speed for epic airtime, bringing with it the ability to push BMX dirt jumping into the next millennium.

The 45 invited riders quickly dropped to around the 35 mark. Between the sheer scale of the roll in and two intimidating dirt kickers that followed, the field was culled even before the first heats began. Dirt Jam was no place for the meek or mild....

Millencolin, Flogging Molly and The Unseen played in Tilburg at the Antidote tour. 013 was sold out, but the people at Vans and Eastpak made sure the FATBMX crew had tickets. Dennis and Paul picked me up in Dennis' VW transporter (for sale) and we ditched traffic to arrive in Tilburg in time for a few cold ones before the concert started. Some dudes in skeleton suits (Unseen?) couldn't really impress. Good thing we had a spot at the bar while watching this band. I wasn't sure if we were allowed to bring a camera inside the 013 concert hall but we tried our phones to get some sort of photo material for this interview.
