This Sunday, 5 March, the Orange 2006 Jam will take place at Ricardo´s and Björn´s Vertramp in Rafelbunyol, Valencia, Spain. It´s no highly-paid-pros-only comp. Just us and our friends having fun at our vert-ramp. Everybody who loves riding vert is very welcome!

Quality Bike Products distribution had their 18th annual Frostbike show last week. With brands present like Snafu, MacNeil, FBM, KHE, Eastern, Props, Profile, ACS and Primo it starts to look like a little trade show of its own. The open house had over 150 booths with representations from 13 countries. More than 950 dealers showed up at the QBP warehouse despite frosty weather. The QBP retailers followed seminars and checked out the latest products that Davenport, Goering, Corley, Collins, Miron, Massei and Crandall brought to Minnesota.

This weekend in San Jose , California local rider Derek Ford organised a jam contest at Stonegate park. With a decent turnout and good weather the jam format was soon dropped and it turned into a free for all. Someone bitter at the world called 911 and told them there were a "whole group of bikers causing mayhem". The cop got out his cruiser and saw it for what it was : people on their bikes having fun. He watched for a bit then drove off.

At the end "bling" prizes were handed out ( old sprockets spray painted gold on chains and trophies). These were handed out for categories like best trick , cleanest bike and representing-the-old-guys rider.

After the jam a group shot was taken with the intent to present it to the local city council in defense of allowing bmx's into the local parks.

We don't really speak Spanish over here at FATBMX. We can order a beer at the bar in Spanish but that's about it. We received this flyer and info (in Spanish) from Lalo Paredes. After taking a closer look at the flyer we noticed John Heaton, Viki Gomez and Vladdie on the contest flyer. Hey wait a minute, I took those pics! Blatently stolen from FATBMX.

For the second year in a row RedBull invited a bunch of riders to ride a drainage down in San Nicolas, Nuevo Leon (Monterrey), Guadalupe,  Mexico. They made a contest out of it and this year the ramps weren't floading down the drain this time. That was good news. 2 Canadians finished on top of the podium followed by a rider from Spain.

Hey there bmxers of the world. This is your chance to get the ramp setup of your dreams in your own backyard or city. Matt Bischoff and Nate Wessel are searching for a location for the next Red Bull Backyard Build off. The build off will consist of 3 teams of some of the best ramp builders. Each team will compete against each other by building the best ramp set up in a 3 day time period. At the end of 3 days some of the top pro bmx riders in the world come together for a jam style contest to compete against each other and also judge which ramp builders built the best set up. This is where you come in. Do you know someone who deserves an amazing ramp set up in their yard? Do you think your bmx scene stands out? We want your submissions to bring this contest to you. We want to know why you think you deserve this in your backyard and in your town. Over the weekend I was in Indianapolis for the Dealer Expo trade show. It's a show that can be compared to Interbike but is motorcycle related. When I was a kid all I wanted to do is ride motocross. That is until BMX arrived which was the perfect fit. It seems like more people were like that and at the Indy show I ran into several ex-BMX-ers such as Hutch pro BMX-er Toby Henderson (now at VSI) and Torker factory rider from back in the day Dave Marietta. Dave also did Wizard number plates and is now running a 25 employee screening business called Hot Shoppe. Todd Huffman was also present (as was his brother who works in the motorcycle industry). Huffman used to run the marketing department at GT and was a former racer (Auburn/SE) himself. Bob Haro was running the Axio booth with his brother Ron who used to announce GT shows. Bob’s hard shell backpacks are something else. 

Since August 2005 in Cologne has an indoor parc for BMX, MTB and skateboard. In March, the first BMX contest will take place.

Several locals from Cologne were involved in the planning and the construction of the Cologne BMX and Skate hall. On approx. 1000 square meters was built a varied parcours with up to date ramps and everything else what a modern skate area needs to have..

On March 11 the first Rookie Jam will take place. This contest is especial for BMX beginners who have never entered a contest until now. If the rookies are interested, they can as well help to organise the contest.
 
Starter fee is 5,-, for snacks and drinks will be provided. Registration deadline is Saturday, March 11 at 11 am. Apart from fame and honour there are special prices to win...

Next February 18th., for the second consecutive time, Red Bull Sewers returns to San Nicolás de los Garza. This is the only BMX cycling event where the best in this discipline participate that takes place in the drainage system of Monterrey. Red Bull Sewers has distinguished itself in the BMX world as a very attractive event, given its marked urban character. The city of Monterrey provides a first-rate alternative venue and, according to the opinions of several participants and media, this competition could very well be on its way to become one of the most important in the international BMX scene.
