The year kicks off with the 2024 UCI BMX Freestyle Park & Flatland World Cup from 22 to 25 February 2024 in Japan at the magnificent Enoshima venue, and registration is now open for riders! It’s showtime for the 2024 UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup season, and it's the city of Enoshima in Japan, that will be hosting the best athletes competing in BMX Freestyle Park and BMX Freestyle Flatland in the men's and women's categories from 22 to 25 February.

The fact that time flies is a good sign. It means it's not dragging on. At FATBMX we managed to pull of another year of bringing you the latest and greatest BMX coverage. 2023 is over and luckily it was a busy year once again. We missed the travel days with Covid and then accepted every opportunity in 2023 to get out there. It resulted in trips to Switzerland, France, the USA, Scotland, Germany, China, Belgium, Spain, Chile, and the UAE to see what's going on in BMX. We then covered the events on the site and shared photos and videos on out social media channels for everyone to enjoy.
2024 is looking good already with many BMX jams, gatherings, competitions, UCI World Cups (Japan/France?....), the Olympic Qualifier Series in China and Hungary, The UCI World Championships in Abu Dhabi and other activities happening. It's the Olympic year so expect us to be in Paris this upcoming summer to report from the biggest sporting event on earth.

Do you remember the moment that you decided to start collecting BMX memorabilia?
Shad Johnson: No real exact moment. I remember getting an OZONE from a friend in '95 and being so stoked because I had always wanted one. Somehow that frame disappeared from one of the BMX houses I have lived at in the past. When I first opened Goods BMX someone brought in a pink '88 GT performer I bought off of them.
After doing a BMX 'zine for ten years (1987 - 1996) FATBMX made it on the internet. The year was 1998. Here to stay.
